Photographer’s Note

A cemetery in Mexico shortly after El Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead). Mexicans mark this holiday by bringing flowers and offerings of traditional foods to the graves of their ancestors who they can commune with on this day. This burial ground is located just outside of the small village of La Cora. The people of La Cora do not have a lot of money and most of the graves are marked with simple wooden crosses. The large mausoleum is probably that of the most prosperous family in the village. Most likely a rancher who owns land and livestock.
