Los Arcos is one of the many icons of Puerto Vallarta and I wish I would had more time to explore it photographically better than I did during my one week of vacation at this town.

After 1 ½ years at TE I adopted the praxis to look up all the shots of my destiny prior to the trip. There were 165 photos posted at TE and I had the impression to have a pretty good idea of the photo ops of the town and surroundings. Once arriving in Puerto Vallarta I was quite surprised to discover Los Arcos. No one posted any shots of this place at TE before! At my previous post I commented of the different possibilities to get there.

Los Arcos offers a multitude of different and spetacular POV’s with a good variety of compositions. However, I wish I could have been there early in the morning and late afternoon to have the ideal light conditions, but that wasn’t the deal of these vacations and I was happy enough to have at least one day to use my camera at its best.

Oh, by the way, the rocks are called Los Arcos because of the sea’s erosion through the soft rock forming arches. You can see one here, but there are several of them and to get the most advantageous POV to have several arches in one shot I recommend anyone to take the tourist boat tour. I opted to get there with the bus and swim to the rocks. I didn’t dare to take my D200 for the swim from the shore to the rocks and back.

Peter,
A lovely composition, very smart. Top quality colours and sharpness.

MC

Hello Peter,

At first I thought I was looking at the rocks on the coast of Capri, but the colors of the water are distinctly different here than those in the Mediterranean. A very nicely composed shot, with the leaves in foreground offering a dramatic frame. I too would have avoided taking the Nikon D200 near the water!

Warm regards,

Bulent

Hi Peter,
Indeed it looks like "l'Arc de Triomphe" in Paris.
Well seen
Marc

Beautiful pov with a nice view between the leaves, its so contrast between the dark side and the bright side. Great one Peter, i like it. Thanks

daniel

Hi Peter,
A very nice look-through, but for my taste a bit to much leaves...agree?
But the depth is created and lucky for you we have a nice focus point in that boat that is lying for the coast...a good but also important detail in the overal composition.
Regards, Henk

Hi Peter, this is my favorite type of framing, through the "natural hole", and then you have a second "natural hole", in the rock:) Very good framing with the boats, the saturated sea colours give a feeling of an old nostalgic postcard...

Cheers
Alexander

Hello Peter,

I like your frame with the dark branches around the rock together with the sailboat in background.
Very nice composition and nice real colours.
Very well done, thanks for sharing.

Have a nice week,
John.

Peter,

Bonita!
Abraço,
Carlos

Very well composed Peter. Using the leaves to frame the arch that is placed in the top intersecting point. Well done.

Hi Peter, h
This one is even better!! I love the way you've framed the tropical sea and the arch with the foliage silhouettes. Having the arches as your focal point was a good choice, but didn't you have a picture where 5.6 seemed to be the sweet-spot for detail with your lens?

Hi Peter,
Nice frame of dark leaves as the photo moves toward the giant rock with nice green growing throught its cracks. Lovely view through the eriosion hole to the turquoise sea.

nice framing of the leaves to peek this arch

the limited view that we can see through these leaves made us wonder more of the beauty behind, coz what we could see here eventough it is not much but wonderful

Hi Peter, A great use of the foliage in the foreground, nicely silhouetted against the turquoise sea in the behind, a great use of light & creation of depth, brilliant contrast, kind regards Wilson.

Bom trabalho
Andre

...it's always a pleasure to upload photos of a place that haven't been shown on TE before
the title made me smile, i imagine these french words with the engkish accent ;)
nicely composed, good looking

Oi Peter!

original framing and a good view on that hole in the rock.

Salut Peter,

Hi Peter
So, you now model yourself on Crocodile Dundee for unpublished shots!!
This peep-through view is unusual in your gallery and enhances the mood of wilderness, a bit altered by presence of boats...but they are very useful, though, for scaling the size of mountain.
Best regards.
Robert

Hello Peter, very creative use of the somewhat soft vegetation as a window for us to view the interesting geology. The texture in the seastack is well seen. The pleasure craft to the right of it are additional nicely aligned extra details.

Good strategy to use the TE site to pre-visualize the photo ops!

Hello Peter

This Visit By Chance. I like it, this shot is superb, a great view. TFS

The water here looks very nice! A beautiful scene framed very nicely by the trees. Another place I would love to visit someday. Thanks, Karen

UM BELO ARCO DA NATUREZA.
A natureza, sim, é triunfal!
Parabéns, Peter, bravo!
Um lindo cenário mexicano. "Que rico!"
Um abraço,
Nivaldo.

Hi Peter. I love the sneak peek view you have captured with the foliage. Excellent colours and details. Well composed and thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hello Peter,

This is a beautiful place, even when I can see just a tiny section of this place. Good use of the leaves to frame this tunnel or arco. The colour of the water is very characteristic of the tropics. Nice work Peter.

Roberto

Hello Paul,
Excellent way to show us this paradisiac landscape.
Greetings.
Igor

Hi Peter,
compo works well especially after your choice to include the 2 boats on the right side. Light has been well managed; colours and sharpness and colours are ok!

Hello Peter
The framing is very well done, through the leaves. The colour of the sea in the FG, turquoise, is beautiful. The arch is prominently kept in the 'frame' & we can see the changing colours of the sea thru it. The boats give an idea of the scale of the rock. Good work Peter.

Hi Peter, good shot with perfect composition,POV and colors. Very nice place with this rock and water with amazing colors.I like it.
