One of the many things that defines Mexico, at least for the tourist, is Corona beer. Corona is well known in Europe, United States, Canada and Australia to be served with a slice of lime in the neck.
In the city that I live in the US, that has a quite large mexican population (about 40%), Corona is enriched additionally to the lime with a dash of salt, tabasco and a shrimp inserted into the neck of the bottle - also called “Corona preparada”.
During my recent mexican visit I was very surprised to learn that the practice of lime is less common in Mexico itself, outside of areas frequented by tourists. Even more interesting, there are no images of bottles with limes on the Mexican Corona website!

Story of this shot: After a long, hot, humid, sweaty and strenuous hike through the thick jungle along the sea shore close to Puerto Vallarta I had a small pit stop at a tiny place called Boca de Tomatlan. It was urgent time to have a cool Corona (with lime, salt and Tabasco). In front of me I had some local fisherman having their pure and original Corona. Once finished, they speed off on their motorboat.

Hello Peter,
I see that you and Jean Pierre Fayeulle have something in common, the local beer when you are visiting a foreign country. Seing this image, one would in fact know that you were in Mexico. The weather must have been very good with this blue and cloudless sky, a day needing a cool, refreshing, Corona.
Steve

Hello Peter,
This shot is totally different from your previous post. An ordinary beach view with nice pov but i still enjoyed this shot. Very good idea to add the boat and part of the land on the corner. Nice picture with interesting story, thanks :-)

This is very pretty. It's getting so cold here now that I dream of places like this. A beautiful beach, and very beautiful blue water. (Not a beer drinker though :) A very nice composition. TFS

Hello Peter,
Lovely spot under the sun to relex!
good pov with perfect sharpness, vivid colour and so much details
well done and well pleased!
cheers
Tony

Hola Peter,
Corona, la cerveza mas fina !
Its reputation has crossed the oceans and we do have it here too (with lime), if you come here this winter you might want to try its Alsatian cousin the Desperados brewed by Fischer. However such beers are best enjoyed during the hot summer. Nice picture where the detail of the background passing boat is essential.
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi Peter,
Lovely holiday atmosphere.
An invitation to the relaxation.
TFS,
Corinne

Peter,

Hello Peter,

I think that the parasol together with the table, and chair wait on us for a nice afternoon to pausing with a good glass Belgian beer. You know that Belgium have the best beer in the world, small country, great beer, certainly the castle beers.
Lovely quality picture and very real colours too.
Thanks for sharing.

Best regards,
John.

I'm disappointed! I thought your story was going to be something romatic with "une table a deux par la mer".
You have balanced the composition very well filling in the right with the departing boat and the little bit of headland. it looks like a very inviting place to partake od refreshment.
Funny about the Corona and the lime. It reminds me of Britain's favourite Indian dish - Chicken Tikka Marsala. No-one in India has this dish!
Kath

Very nice colour and the red chair among the white is a nice touch. You vaught the boat leaving just right as it is well placed in the image.

Olá Peter,
The colours are very pleasant and the compo amazingly well done, well balanced and using the diagonal without having any line to do it (cliff, boat, table and chairs, nicely balanced by the umbrella). I imagine how great the beer tasted after a strenuous hike under that warm weather.
Um abraço, José.

Oi, Paulo.
Excelente tomada deste belo dia ensolarado.

max

Hello Peter! Nice shot and accompanying note, this one is perfect for the stock collection. The colorful frame really enhances the fun. I guess with this setup the waiters have to keep their eye on the tides!

TFS

Hola Pietro,

SALUDOS

HI Peter,
almost a modern touristic still life. Very well composed; an appealing ensemble.
Regards, Gerrit

Hi Peter,
It's well composed, colourful. But emptyish. It's good that the fishermen can still be seen on the boat, but it's not the same.
May I suggest something more personal, something like here?
Kari

Wagner.

Hello Peter -

Something strikes me as a bit off with image but I can not put my finger on it, maybe it is the rather shallow DOF. But, on the other side I find the colors and the composition spot on the money. The boat filling the space between the beach and the headland really makes the image work. Without the boat I think the image would fail even with the strong colors. Exposure looks to be spot on the money. Excellent note.

Thank you for sharing.

John

Olá Peter,
Gostei desta imagem, bastante sugestiva!
Aqui vai a receita.
Nunca tomei ESTE Café Brésilien no Brasil :-)
Maria do Carmo

You've framed a nice diagonal from the table to the boat and to the cliff, while the umbrella adds its own angles; it's very attractive. November is the best time for Mexico, not as hot as summer but the water is still vey warm. By January, the water is relatively cold.
Salud, amor y alegria, Pat

Carlos

Hello Peter,

This is a sweet photo. Just ten days ago, how magnificent this area of Mexico. And they probably spared the ravages of the forrest fires that visited Southern California. The boat on the right bring a measure of drama to the photo.

Please, don't bother to critique the image, but your photo somehow reminds me of No Man is an Island.

Warm regards. I've had to lay low at TE for awhile, under pressure to produce some manuscript for a new book.

Hi Peter,
Your driving me to drink with the very refreshing scene. I can imagine how good a cold Corna would taste after a strenous hike in the jungle. The colors are very clear with nice details and shadows on the beach. The boats adds nice colors and definition with the complimentary blue and yellow border completing this fine composition.
Regards, Tom

Leonor

Hi Peter,
Great atmosphere and beautiful colours in your picture.
Excellent done,
Georg

hehehe... nice observation and nice note
the picture also very good, composed nicely with the umbrella and the sits, beach, boat passing

hi peter
welcome back :) you said no pictures in holiday :D
here we have Viking beer, the pure Icelandic water and a unique combination of malt, hobs, maize and sugar give the beer a distinct bitter taste :D...but i must confess i like more corona:) specially if i am in on beach like in your shot :)
great shot
best regards,anes

Hi Peter, A well composed photo with a simple theme, the light & depth is very good, the boat seems to draw the eye, the umbrella is perfectly positioned, TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Incredible.

A mi me gusta mucho!

Hello Peter,

The beer umbrella may be a welcome sight for beer drinkers, the beach and blue water is for me. I like the light and the colours of this scene. The empty table add a sense of peace and quiet. Good details and overall composition. Thanks :-)

Roberto

hello peter
It sounds like paradise and lazy life?. And in addition featuring our natinal colours!.
Best regards

Hi Peter
Nice "summer" image. I lack a bit of summer during the cold November and i like the scene with lovely warm light.

Hola Peter.
A good promotion for Corona beer, I think our Cerveza Presidente is better. Good shot with very good composition, nice colors and good POV. The presence of the boat add motion to your shot and love the condos on top of the rock. Very well captured.
Un fuerte abrazo.

Hi Peter,

Everything seems in place here in this photo. The boat, the umbrella, and, last but not least, the drink. And of course, the weather:-)

Hello Peter!
Great advertising photo!
Good compo, and great atmosphere of lazy holiday!
Best regards!

Ahhh...sitting here in Dahab, Egypt on the sinai Peninsula Peter...and I can relate to this one.

The first thing that popped out on this crappy little computer screen was the perfect choice of framing. Love the red chair and contrasting blue tablecloth with the Corona yellow surrounding them. Composition looks good (although I have had a few Sakara's myself today) and colors are excellent.

Cheers
John (from Dahab)
