Photographer’s Note

This lake is actually a man-made reservoir in the foothills of the Sierra Madre Occidental in the state of Sinaloa in northwestern Mexico. This was shot from the train, El Chepe, as we returned to El Fuerte from Creel in the incredible Copper Canyon. The train ride is one of the most spectacular in the world. These severely eroded mountains make for some impassable terrain that only eagles and mountain lions call home. Most of the side canyons and ravines will never know the mark of a human footprint.
