Photographer’s Note

The chapel next to Margarita's posada in Creel, Mexico. At 2,800 meters elevation the sky is a crystal clear, ice blue. This town is in the heart of the Copper Canyon area and a starting point for many expeditions into the many beautiful canyons. The native population of Tarahumara Indians, besides being famous for their stamina and endurance, are noted basket weavers and wood carvers. One of their favorite things to carve is violins. You see them everywhere. The Stradivarius family (descendants of the famous violin maker) came to Creel and performed in concert using locally made instruments.
