Photographer’s Note

This is a section of the park of Edward James in Las Pozas, near Xilitla, Mexico. This enchanting monument to surralist art is a wonderful place to visit that impresses more and more around each and every bend. I liiked this image in particular as the form is very tipical of the typical of the park and shows it well. The transformation from the dark bottom of the picture amid the trees of this jungle, to the top of the structure reaching to the sky sums the place up quite well for me, at least this impressive part anyway that is one of the first structures to greet you as you come in. I chose use black and white here as the park was not just to express James’ love of surrealism but also his passion to push back the boundaries of architecture. So black and white highlights the forms of the structures best. Also as the park is not in its full glory any more the once bright colours are all but gone and almost all of the structure is bare concrete.
