Photographer’s Note

Hello my friends,

7:00PM local time… it is time for an aperitif and although those who know me will tell you that I hardly ever drink… they might say that on specific occasion, I appreciate a glass of Baileys or a Pekêt-lemon (Pekêt is a local alcohol from Liège that you can mix with… nearly everyhting ;-)

On the last night of my trip, I decided to go for my first Margarita, a typical Mexican cocktail (recipes and history here

And because today is a special day, I raise my glass to our friend’s health, Henk, alias Floydian…I hope you are having a great day my friend!

This photo was taken at the Paseo Santa Lucia. As promised on my previous post, here is some additional information about it.

The name of that place comes from the former Santa Lucia River. Part of the river is underground and still provides water to the canal, which is 2.5 km long and only 1.2 m deep. There is just enough depth to allow the passing of little motorboats, which take tourists from one to the other part of the city (from the “Explanada de los Héroes” to the “Parque Fundidora”).

Despite its success, it is not too crowded.
During your walk you can enjoy water games (22 fountains), cultural sites (three museums, e.g. museum of Mexican history), modern sculptures, bars, restaurants, etc.
10 foot bridges allow you to cross the river to reach strategic places in the city and you may also read all along the river large boards explaining Monterrey history.

Paseo Santa Lucia is one of the main sightseeing of the city.
The cost of its construction is about 300 millions dollars, according to Wikipedia. That’s the reason why the construction was stopped during 9 years, before it was finished and inaugurated in September 2007.

I will add a photo of this place taken earlier, so you can better see how it looks like
