Photographer’s Note
Last year on december 2007 i went to misionary trip to a very small town called Paredon. It is a very poor area and its like in the desert but they still have light, other groups that went to this misionary trip i stayed in little towns where there wasnt any electricity. This man, his name is Don Julián and while i was walking on the street i saw him sitted outside his house smoking a cigarrette and i start talking to him. I think he is like 83, i dont remember very well and he looked like hes been working his entire life. His hands where like so hard from the work hes been doing. But it was nice talking to him, these people, they all have stories to tell and long ones.

Hi Alonso
Very sharp portrait. A unique character you have captured here. I am sure he has some interesting stories. His eyes are really hidden. Anyhow well done.

Hola Alonso, muy buen retrato, el detalle de las arrugas y la expresion sobre todo es muy buena. Y como dicen, las arrugas son sinonimo de vida... Buena eleccion del sepia. Chau chau,

Hi Alonso, this is an absolutely amazing shot. I like the close up crop you have with excellent sharp detail. Normally I wouldn't think you would want this for a portrait but in this case we see the true character. Your use of the light in this case is very good. Yes he might be squinting, but it adds to the contrast in a way that works well. Beautiful shadow detail. Enjoyed!
Thanks, John

A very well made portrait Alonso. A tight and close crop of the face with lots of fine details in his facial expression. A most interesting result - and apparently a good contact between him and you.

Well you had something nice to say about my old man portrait, so I'll say something nice about yours!
Love the shot! It doesn't matter where you go in the world, you'll find those kind of people who have worked all their life and have the worn body to prove it. There is something about these people that interests me...I just look and wonder what those old eyes have seen in their many years of seeing. Great shot you have here...the man's squinting against the sunlight really draws attention to those eyes....
