Photographer's Note
On the left of the altar (I am a theatre person, so stage left) a figure is seated, holding the rope in his left hand. The detail of the object in the right hand has faded with time as well as the headdress. Relevant, I know not, but Maya houses, made from slender branches and thatch, are held together near the ground sometimes with a vine, or a longer branch to stabilize the uprights. This photo is taken in the Parque La Venta.
