Photographer's Note
I had taken precautions, bringing along both a rain slicker and insect repellent. I needed both, and to assist, I put up the hood of the slicker to keep bugs off my neck - one of their two favourite parts of my body. From the museum, I followed the arrows north along the western edge of the site to the north end. I had to watch where I stepped as the ground was soggy indeed. This was the first sculpture I encountered, of a male, and I speculate he may be dressed for the ballgame. What I most appreciate about Olmec sculpture is that it features simplicity in design and execution.
Onward and northward!
