Photographer’s Note
Somos Mexicanos... Episodio trece: Monumento Religioso
On a vast square in front of the Basilica Nuestra Senora de Guadelupe the faithful walk on their knees the whole distance between the large belfry and the basilica entrance carrying heavy statues of the Madonna. Their families are by their side.
I was lucky enough to have that praying woman entering the frame adding some extra dimension to the otherwise flat scene...

Ciekawa scena i kompozycja z rozlozeniem ludzi, ale chyba wybralabym glebie rownolita, bez rozmazania pierwszej postaci.
Pozdro. G.

This is a one heckuva chunk of a great journalistic story, Jerzy.
I hardly remember ANY photo that is able to say so much about the place and about the event like this one.
No, I'm not kidding.
EVERYTHING in there tells the story as you hinted in your note.
From the left to right and backwards. From the white, unobtrusive skies to the very stony pavement, upon which the faithful ones will crawl on their knees asking for a very special treatment from THE almighty.
That man on his knees surrounded by his family…
The nuns on the right ( what a precious element of this photo) and, the last ( but not a bit least) part of it… That blurry woman in prayers… Yes… She's in prayers…
The very clear and very visible prayers.
Her hands, her face…
Oh, man…
You may call it an accident, but I don't believe in accidents of such complexity.
There is literally - not a bad pixel in this photo !
If there is anything I could change in there is ( probably) conversion into the deep black and whites rather, than anything else.
There is a drama in there…There is that very special, religious feeling in it and I think the 'blackie' will even emphasize the mood of the place further on.
A very special, three-layer photo… A flawless one.
A photo report of a great weigh rather than anything else.
It's been a pure pleasure to stumble upon something so professional like this, mate.

PS: There is a someone's hand visible under the arm of the blurred woman on the left...?
Curious thing...
My first reaction was: It should be cloned off from the picture , but then..?
I found it rather touchy and a disarming piece of tenderness and care for another person.
It fits perfectly the atmosphere of the place and time.
PS2:
80 hits and two points for such a classy photo!!!
A strong indication of the tendencies the TE is leaning to...!

¶wietnie wyszła ta postać po lewej..rewelacja - taki 'nowoczesny' kult - ten betonowy krzyż z dzwoneczkami i tłumy daj±cych ofiarę..
pozdrawiam,

Pozdrawiam.

Jerzy: a strange one - took a little study - trying to figure your compromising DOF - but in the end, I'll contribute two greens to this fine piece. regards, c

To jest świetne jak dla mnie. I pomnik i uchwycone na jego tle różne formy pobożności od złożonych w modlitwie rąk, przez pielgrzymowanie na kolanach po powołanie zakonne. A jednocześnie swiat codzienny - turystyczno-familijny.
Zdecydowanie lubię białe niebo, choć pamietam z pierwszych lekcji na TE, że takie być nie powinno. Dobrze, że wolno łamać konwencje :)
Pozdrowienia T.
