Photographer’s Note
It was late in the day on Long Beach, the sun tried to shine through the clouds which created what I call "silver light". The evening mist was starting to form and these two surfers were no doubt heading home for a couple of beers.
Long Beach is located in Pacific Rim National Park on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Tofino is the surfing capital of Canada and the time to photograph surfers is during the winter months when the waves are highest.

Lovely feel to this shot, Phil, and I think the central placement of the main figures works very nicely here. I like your term "silver light", it seems very applicable. Maybe slightly less sky would be nice as the previous critiquer suggested, but then again I do like having so much space in the shot. So in two minds about that :-)
Very nice photo.

I think I had told you before that Long Beach is one of my favorite places on earth. I use to go there every summer. This picture really picks up the mood of the place. Another really great picture! TFS

Phil,
Very beautiful shot, I really like it, the silhouette of the surfer, the shimmering ocean haze the sparkle and glare on the wet sand due to the low tide. The very muted color almost gray scale and the mood of the evening approaching is really nice. Yeap, end of day, time to go home. Thanks Phil.

it's simple and effective, reflection of the sun provides interesting brightness, and the silhouettes stand out very well thanks to it

Hi, Phil.
Silver light, that's exactly what it is.
Moody shot, love that evening mist pulling in and your excellent (back)light management. Nothing better than a couple ice-cold beers after a good afternoon of surfing!
Have a good day, see ya soon.
Fulvio.

I can see why you call it silver light. The light reflecting off the wet sand is very attractive, but the two figures were very necessary to complete the picture.

Hello Phil,
Capture this beautiful silver color that dominates the picture. I really like the backlit silhouettes of walking along the sand and the brightness in the sand. Excellent composition with very good atmosphere. Congratulations!

Hi Phil,
Wonderful riffling texture to the low tide beach to go along with the dreamy mist surrounding the lovely silver blue beach and sky.

Hi Phil,
An image that conjures up a sense of solitude and an open and free spirit, and the grey/blue tones are part of it. I like it and TFs. Gerald

Hello Phil! Wow this is really something, what a light, what a beach and so empty besides the few people that quit for the day going home, warming up, drinking a warm cup of tea maybe later at their fireplaces, or sitting under their verandas drinking beer, depending on the Season ... and the mood. I really like the silvery color and how the sea fog hangs in the cove, just a little, making this place mysterious, maybe also adventerous when I read how many surf this beach in winter. Great mood, great photo, I like it a lot. Best regards ... Barbara.

Hello Phil
I saw a picture of these mud flats couple of days back in TE, shot against the sun, as they're on the FG. Captured well here in backlight, like the mist above the water & the silhouette of the two surfers. Was wondering about the crop to the left & top to make them off-centre & also bring them closer to the viewer?! Good work.

Angshu

Hi Phil!
It is very nice the "silver light" composition with the lights and shadows. I like the surfer's silhouette the closer and the farther as well.
Thanks, Csilla

Hi Phil. Quite an impressive view, a scene in which the human presence is put into a proper perspective. One feels nature's pulse in this shot. i like the light, the gleaming sand and by contrast the brooding forest and sky.Cropping the sky would have diminished the impact and "truncated" the scene. regards. Klaudio.
