Photographer’s Note

This is autumn this past week on Kawkawa Lake just a wee bit north of Hope, B.C. This particular spot is hard to get to - requires a steep downward traverse, but I thought it was worth it. The autumn colors are still evident along the shoreline but what I really liked here is the stunning reflections. The trees to the right are quite dark because of heavy afternoon shade in that area.

marvelous place to be and a nice framing Gerald. Huge landscape and the fall colors came out quite well.

Hi Gerald,
This is a fantasticly dreamy landscape with a tiny bit of haze giving this one a magical feel.
The beautiful blues, greens and golds seem to make a 3D reflection in the tranquil waters of this lovely apline lake.
Wonderful depth and details to this beauty.

since the light seems not that good, there is a little overall blue cast.

Hi, Gerald. A very nice landscape with interesting reflections. There is a nice symmetry between the top and the bottom of your picture. The tree trunk is well placed in the composition, and allows us to distinguish reflection and reality. Light conditions seemed to be difficult, which meant loss of details in the darker areas, but you managed it quite well.

The place looks indeed nice and as you say the reflection looks stunning but in my opinion this image lacks a bit of light, maybe another time of the day would fit better ?

Wonderful landscape. And although it's a bit hazy, the colours from the trees come in with great pleasure. I made a quick stop at Hope, but never saw this lake...strange.

Nice shot and perfect reflection. I'm a big fan of reflections (as you can tell by looking through my portfolio) so I'm a sucker for this type of shot. I like that cloud too, because it adds some interest to the sky. Beautiful work, and well worth the trip.

Hi Gerald,
When you hike you can show a POV that hasn't already been shown hundreds of times. You're right about the reflection, it does make the shot; especially when spiced with the fall color.

I said to you before - autumn colours + reflections is bound to be a winner and here you have another one. Certainly worth the difficulty of getting to the viewpoint. Strangely, for a lover of autumn colours, it is the cloud reflection that really makes this shot.

I like the wide angle and the V form between the mountains.
Reflections are very well, we see a nice mirror image.
You have managed to use the low angle lighting to create excellent colors and warmth through out the scene.
Very well composition, good presentation, also soft colours.

Hello Gerald,

I notice the hills are mostly covered by the evergreens, but still some spots of foliage to show the colours of the season!
A balanced composition with inclusion of the log in front, amazing colours...
The calm lake acts as the perfect mirror!
