Photographer's Note
“Rising Sun” is the name of this photo or to be more correct 5 photos (different exposure modes) which are merged in a HDR (high dynamic range) shot. The photo was then converted into an 8 bit Jpeg.
This is a shot of Mortier as the sun is rising around 6:30 am. A heavy tripod was used.

Hi Jim. You got a great photo here. I like the colors of the sunrise there. The reflection of the house and light on the water is also great. What a beautiful place to live. Well done. Sothy
PS: This picture proves that your HDR skills are wonderful.

Hallo Jim!
This is a very special photo - and an uncommon a very beautiful one. The atmosphere od a beginning day, of cold, of humidity is transmitted here very well. The "pink end of the tunnel" works well here. A photo "to dream into" ...
Greetings from autumnal cool Germany!

Hi Jim
Why using a 4/3 format and not the 3/2 native format of your DSLR when the foreground is void ? Except this fact I really like the natural colour in spite of the HDR technique. I love this picture.

Hi Jim,
Great to see you choose to do this as a HDR, wise choice with the different lighting levels. It is very surreal, like many of the small outport towns of NL at this time of day. Great job with this one, allot of elements came together for a perfect composition. Again, great use of the HDR technique.

Congrats Jim, you have really captured something here. That special something you can't really describe that just leaves you thinking "Wow, that's a great one !".
May be as mentionned by fayeulle this one would also work in a more 'panoramical' format. But I like this area of plain empty water. It reinforces the feeling of cold brought by the surrouding hills and the fog and makes the houses (especially the one on the right because of the warm tones from the artificial lights) look all the more comfortable.
