Photographer’s Note

As only a crazy Aussie on his first trip to the Rockies would do, I ventured out early one bitterly cold Albertan morning (-28C!) onto the frozen Lake Louise to snap this shot of The Fairmont Chateau, where we'd spent the previous night in absolute warmth and splendour! Then it was a quick dash back to a hearty breakfast - life was good!

Sept. '08: This is a repost, following tonal contrast adjustments and ND filter effects, plus a different crop to allow a 'Large Version' upload.

Hi Jeff,
Yep, you're crazy, -28 and you're standing in the snow, no weather for a sandgroper.
Beautiful shot, sharp as a tack. I like the work you did on the background, really gives it a lift.

Hey Jeff;

Nice shot! Very different from what I saw of Lake Louise less then a month ago...
Tonal levels are very good, sharpness is spot on, nice and natural colors- my only suggestion is a slight clockwise rotation to ensure the building (middle) is level (see my workshop).

Hello Jeff,
I really like the effects of the lighting here, and the pastel colors that you captured. The Chateau looks so beautful with the snow-dusted trees beside it, and the mountains in the background.

Crazy is as crazy does, and this is genius crazy. :) Nice shot of the Chateau, one that you could probably only get in -28 degree C weather. The sun hitting the mountains is fantastic, and the panoramic view is a good call. Thanks for sharing.
