Photographer’s Note
after two introductory photos here and here - finally, a wider view that includes Niagara Falls as seen from the Canadian side. these are the American Falls, with the Bridal Veil Falls to the right, you can see a more abstract and closer look on the place in this photo by zmey.
as I've said before, there are A LOT of tourists at the Falls. I looked up the statistics - the number of visitors in 2008 is expected to total 20 million and by 2009, the annual rate is expected to top 28 million tourists a year... no wonder it feels so crowded.

I thought they were falls :) now this looks more like disney land ... but it has its points to go there nevertheless, and is it only for these colors, and you two made them famous and showed a different side and that it can be fun and fight the tourist masses with something completely different. This is how I see it. You have it fully under control, and I like how you framed the photo with the fine red going around. I mean if I lived in your area I would try to see the falls but what I never understand why people do all these sites when travelling this area and have only two weeks time, I mean this is not the true Canada but some people cannot live when they have not "made it all". Just some ideas ... oh well, your work is really special, I like it a lot. Barbara.

Hello Kristine:
Surely that is making a spectacular, full of a lot of strength, majesty and naturalness.
I like the way it has captured the buildings of the fund, the contrasts with the red hues, from a very balanced. I think that it would not be able to make such a shot.

Nice one. Exposure is great, with nice colors and great detail. I probably have pushed the compo a little down to avoid so many darnkness in the top. I like your framing choice.

Hi Kristine,
I'm in a doubt about the blue or the red version...ok, don't tell Kristaps but I found this one nicier :)) just because of the red light on the water fall...of course I'm joking. Both images pleases me very much. Superb details and your choice for the thin red frame fits pretty well. Very good work of you!

Niagara is like an urban falls, surrounded by building, colored with artificial lights. In a side this is interesting but for another side this is sad cause we can see a giant caught by little creatures, a giant slave of money. I liked your pov, the falls are in fabulous colors (artificialism), light shows its shapes. Men swapping nature

Hi Kristine,
Fantastic night image with perfect slow expousre that renders a wonderful translucent soft dreamy texture to the blushing falls. The nearby skyline shows the contrast between raw nature and man's touch. This one is a real winner.

Kristine,
another really nice night shot filled with magical mood lighting. Hot! Yet all the rock in the middle of the falls still very nicely visible. The silk like quality of the falls and colors is velvety. Nicely frame for a great presentation. I love it.

Hello Kristine,
That is an amazing lot of tourists for a waterfall! Well, for a world-famous waterfall that is ;-). But still!!
Very nice reds of the ambient lights. The framing works well with the thin red line. Nice work!

Hi Kristine,
this is a very appealing picture, with the Niagara falls kissed by the soft red light to create a great atmosphere, also thanks to the black colour of the night. I'm amazed by the quality you delivered here, where details are visible even in the darkest area of the picture; you camera settings were just perfect and you managed the lighting in the best way possible. A fine work indeed!
Thanks for sharing it.

This one is equally interesting, Kristine - it looks like a lava flowing down the waterfall.
How come you decided to take night shots of the falls?

Hi, Kristine -
The colors never stay the same, do they?
Great light capture, and the timing was long enough to give a smooth feeling to the water without over-exposing it. Good balance of the elements, too.
There is a small spot of light in the lower right which was really there, but somehow looks like a sensor speck. I'd clone it out, not because it's not real, but because it looks like it's not.
Best,
Dan

Dear Kristine,
I'm very busy at work right know but try to catch up during the weekends and scroll fast through the pages hunting for some good ones ;-)
That red looks great, you don't here me saying something bad about it ;-)
Serious, i think it's a great exposure with superb high details on the rocks in the water and the high buildings on the far left. Very nice framing...i really like this one, it shows the falls from a more artictic pov.
Have a great weekend, Henk

hi Kristine
A good choice of 15s to make the flow so special and under the intensity of lighting for a warm color tone. I like your angle of view and such a good composition with the lighted buildings at far end. The dark sky is giving a good contrast of the FG. tfs

Kristine, nice one, this one for sure is something identifiable. That said I think it is a bit sad that we (all of us) can look on such a grand natural wonder and see it as something akin to an amusement park. I think these photos show it in it's glory and don't pander to all the carnival attitudes that are so obvious there. Fine capture.

Kristine,
An intriguing shot - and one that I don't think I've seen before - although it must have been taken over and over given your quoted visitor numbers. (Perhaps no-one else used a tripod and they they all came out blurred!)
It's a strange phenomenom, this illumination, with the gigantic hotels in the backdrop, I can imagine it almost as a Las Vegas style miniature recreation of the falls - maybe a neon green Grand Canyon can be found just the other side of the parking lot. Still, I'm riding my high horse across the prarie of man's commercial improvements to natural wonder. Hi-ho silver!!!
Good quality, super smooth looking night shot.

Excellent serie of the Niagara falls Kristine, This could be printed at the front page of a tourist magazine promoting the place. Great shot and well chosen exposure, nice and smooth, milder than the horse shoe and it's well lighted at night.

Wow! Kristine! An excellent POV, beautiful effect of the freezed water. With this long time exposure you handled the light very well and obtained a sharp result. I also like the electric illumination of the building in the background, with the vertical white lines that stylize the falls and the small red point at the top. Your framing is graceful. Congratulations!

Hello Kristine
The coloured lights (red in this case, blue in Kristaps picture)...looks like Disneyland really. But hats off to you for handling the exposure & colours so well. The water in the FG, thanks to the slow shutter speed, looks silky. The BG of the buildings contrast with fluid motion of the falls. Well done Kristine!

Hi Kristine,
I'm not sure why I like the warmer lights on the falls better than the cooler ones, perhaps because it's unexpected, It alsost looks like lava falling into the sea.

Sweika Kristine,
Very effective photo, from the time exposure to the understated frame. A gentle veil drawn over the scene masks the violence behind it, with no hint of the thunderous roar behind the veil.
Warm regards,
