Photographer’s Note
The original prairie farmsteads would typically have grain storage bins (graineries) to hold the harvested grains until needed or sold. Today, most of those old bins have been replaced with large round galvanized steel bins. So in keeping with this thought, the canola or mustard seed soon to be harvested from these yellow fields will be stored in the large bins as shown here. The clouds were dark and rain threatened, but the light white clouds were drifting overhead. This is a very typical prairie scene this time of year.

hi gerald
The colour and clarity is very good, the grain storage in particular, adds so much to this scene, as it provides a nice contrast with the yellow field and sky. Well done!

Hi Gerald,
Very good composed picture, but also heavy pp work i think. No bad word about that beacuse it's the result that counts and this looks just great. Square format, excellent placement of those silo's, green and blue...it all fits perfectly to each other...great shot.

Vey nice shot, I like the contrast between the silver tanks and the gold prairie.
Maybe I had tryed to take a shot closer with a lower point to get narrow the fields behind the tanks.

I think this is the same plant we call oilseed rape, but it seems to be grown later than the European variety. It flowers over here around April/May. It's still not harvested yet as they wait for the seeds to be ready. I like the way you have composed the image with the three storage bins well off-centre. The whole scene is topped off with a very attractive sky.

Hi Gerald,
excellent landscape shot, skilfully framed and featuring a striking contrast between yellow and blue.
Love the atmosphere too : the combination silvery silos/dark sky makes it almost eerie. Like, the quiet before the storm...
Good job, thanks for sharing.

I thought first to coolseed for bio-diesel, but this is a other seed, mustard seed.
This type silos are in Belgium disappeared, since a lot years.
You show us a nice contrast image with the yellow mustard seed and the imminent sky.

Hi Gerald,
This one is a fantastic image with a great chromatic strength and a great contrast between the tones of the sky, of the clouds and of the field, which vivid yellow color seems to go out of the framing.
The bins add a good geometric effect to the composition. I like the luminosity of the photo.
Is a nice work.

Somehow I have missed the yellow fields this summer so I am happy you posted this image. The silos make for a nice subject here as they break the monotony of this immense yellow field. Nice colour saturation and sharpness. Thanks Gerald.

Stunning image, Gerald. Many pictures of these yellow fields abound the pages of TE, but those 3 cylinders make a diference and I love them. It's Art in the fields and it was made by man - it could almost be an exhibition. 3 methalic giants lost in the yellow vastness...2 brothers and their fat friend... ;-) Congratulations.

I don't like graineries on a photo, but I reckon they are a good subject on this photo.
The colours are intense and the sky is strong.
Lovely composition
