| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The RCMP (Royal Canadien Mounted Police), are also called the Mounties are really a symbol for Canada. The RCMP was formed as North West Mounted police in 1873 by Queen Victoria. The need was urgent given reports of American whisky traders, causing trouble in the region, culminating in the Cypress Hills Massacre.
With an establishment of 24,578 personnel, as of January 1, 2007, it is also the largest police force in Canada. As the federal police force of Canada, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is responsible for enforcing federal laws.
This picture was taken in Regina at the Depot Division, where teh Mounties are trained and a Seargeant Majors Parade is hold every day. At this day it was graduation day so the mounties were dressed in the famous red uniform. Normally they are dressed in a blue uniform as you can see in the back. They are only allowed to wear their red uniform after graduation. |

Hello Andreas! Very informative notes to accompany a great photo! Never saw one when I was there, too bad. Love their red warm colors, very attaractive to the eyes! rgds.
Hi Andreas,
Nice composition.
May be added a bit to much red saturation, or were they really so red like this ?
