London, ON, is on the Thames River, of course.
There is a lot more London's, England, stuff in London, ON: Garden Covent Market, Pall Mall, Piccadilly, Richmond, you name it.

Here is the Fanshawe Conservation Area.
The dam was built in 1953 to stop flooding.
Before the dam's contraction, London had been severely flooded every 10 years (or so).
The dam was built on the North Thames river, because London, ON, is richer than London, England, and possesses two Thames, North and South.
