Photographer’s Note
I finally got my Husband home for the winter on the 6th of January. In case some of you don't know, hes a Ship Captain on the Great Lakes. This photo shows the steer lines which are tieing the ship up for the winter. In the background a couple tugs that are in the slip as well. The ship is 730' long and 75' wide , the aft house is 9 stories high. The ship carries coal, stone and salt and alot of it!
The shot was taken in one of the view "holes" I could find as the dock was full of alot of equipment that is going to be used to work on this ship during the winter layup months, I thought about cropping out the tanks in the lower left hand corner but really wanted to leave in the corner of the ship. If I scanned the camera futher to the right there was a big dumpster there soooo this is what I got..:o)

Bonsoir Donna,
Perfect shot to show the strong ties between guess what (or who?) in a nice and peaceful harbor. I also like the foreground colour.
René.

Hello Donna,
a good winter scene, with a cold atmosphere in a tranquility.
the flash light seems made the capsul in the side a bit overexpose,I think you didn't need to use the flash, although your camera was in auto mode.
about composition, could be better if you could move abit to right, then you could be had the ropes without the capsuls in side.
but,still I like the atmosphere,a nice winter atmosphere,Thanks Donna,
Best Regards

Good evening Donna,
Belle image of a lake port. The few colors sharp are the welcomes in this greyness. Well considering and quite carried out.
Good evening.
Cordially.

Sees like dark day but not for you, right? ;-)
He's off the &"@#* boat now! LOL!
Too bad for the tanks but overall, a great photo for the boatlover in me ;-)

Hi Donna,
I think you have chosen a good POV, and now we can not only see how the ship is tied up for the winter but also get a feel of the harbour. Love it.
Enjoy the time Anders is home.

Hello Donna,
Good documentary and a well composed image!
Fine lines and attractive cololurs, in particular the yellow stands out...
Maybe I'd rather seen the things lower left side out of the frame as I feel they have nothing to do with the story you want to tell but I understand the difficult situation...
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Donna,
Somber view of the giant tanker's winter digs. The giant ropes are well placed and show the tremendous strain holding this proud vessel in port. Very clear colors and details to this fine image.
Regards, Tom
