Photographer’s Note
Bear Glacier, one of the few glaciers in the world that can be reached by automobile. It's approximately 10 miles west of the intersection of the Cassiar Highway 37 and the Stewart/Hyder access road 37A. The sight can't be missed, and there are numerous pullouts on the south side of the road where you can view the glacier from different angles. After seeing numerous bears in the area, I understood why it was named as such. The water in the foreground is Strohn Lake, which was left behind as the glacier began its retreat in the 1940s.
It was pouring rain at the time, so I didn't linger long after I took a few shots and proceeded to the small town of Stewart. This 50mm shot shows some texture of the glacier; I also have longer and wider shots that I'll post as well. I brightened the dark areas on the side to bring out some detail, and resized for TE.

Hello, Rob--
i like the simplistic composition and the balance of a thin strip of water against the huge and imposing glacier, with the clouds at the top of the frame adding a mysterious and ominous feel. That said, the picture feels a little bit flat... i wish that there was something to add a little bit more of a feeling of depth to the scene, although off the top of my head i'm not sure what i would have done, if any any different at all, if i had been there myself. It's nice work with a good note.
Thanks!

Hi Rob
Nice shot with some clouds around the glacier. I posted a shot from here that was taken a few years ago. Take a look because I think you will see how much it has receeded since then. Nicely done.

Hey Rob,
Wonderful shot of this glacier. Good PP with the photo, as it really brings out the glacier, especially the nice blues at the base of the glacier.

David
