" Bon Echo Provincial Park is situated on one of the deepest lakes in Ontario (144 m or 475') and has long been a favourite destination for painters and photographers. One of the most beautiful of Ontario's Provincial Parks, the focal point of Bon Echo is Mazinaw Rock. At 1.5 km (1 mile) long and 100 m (330') high, the Rock is one of the main draws to this 6,644 hectare (16,500 acre) outdoor oasis.

Markings on Bon Echo Rock reflect two periods of human impact on the Bon Echo area. Several thousand years ago, Native Canadians communicated their life stories with pictographs on the Rock. These markings are still visible today. " www.lennox-ddington.on.ca/tourism/bonecho.html

These pictographs can be found at the base of a rocky escarpment on Mazina lake, reachable only by canoe as you can see on my previous photo.

Hi Nina, it costed me more than a half hour to download this picture (something wrong with the internet and it drives me crazy, and I can’t find the problem), now I will rate it, too!
Sounds like a negative option, but it isn't, I opened it because it made me curious, and it is very impressive, too.
It 's amazing to stand face to face with something that is a few thousand years old, and so well preserved. Does your mind wonders off then , to that time? Trying to imagine what life could have been like in those days?
The colors are spectacular, and the lines in the rocks are beautiful, makes one feel small.

I must agree that Bon Echo really does make you mind wander off into the allure of history. I have visited once, but didn't get the chance to witness up close, so I'm lucky you have presented such a beautiful glimpse for us.
