Well Hendrika asked me if I had anything to complain about today so I decieded to look around and see if I did. :o) Well all our waters gone again so I guess I could complain about that. But I bet tomorrow it will be back. Funny thing Lake Erie, its 57 Miles wide and some 250 miles long, but its fairly shallow, well deep enough for ships have you but shallow enough that when the wind blows? The water gets pushed from one side or end to the other! Crazy, almost like we have tides but its only effected by the wind. I wandered down on the beach in front of my house and here you see the tall reeds that normally are on the waters edge But nope not now! The water is another 20' out from here now as the wind was from the south east. Course our water is a bit low this summer anyway as we've had some really hot temperatures and not that much rain. Hate to say it but we are hoping for a cold winter so the lakes will freeze over and keep from them evaporating even more. So this is my photo, I did sharpen it up a bit but this is how I saw it, the sun setting in the horizon the sky a bit stormy as the cold front we are getting tomorrow moves in. Strong south winds, I'll see if I can get down there to show you what happens with the water then! :o)

Hi Donna,
Beautiful vibrant greens along the shoreline with a gold and blue sky that compliments each other and contrast wonderfully with the green shore. Excellent note about the how the winds and climate effect the shallow lake.
Regards, Tom

Hello Donna,
Apparantly the autumn still is some days away, at least the vegetation on the beach is still fresh green!
A pleasant composition with a fine view of Lake Erie, the light in the horizon is wonderful...
And your funny notes are always a pleasure!

compliments

I learned something new. I had no idea the lake moved like that. You don't have far to go to benefit from the best light of the day. The colours are lovely and the low POV on the reeds works very well. Well done

Hahaha, much fun Donna checking up on your complaints - keep on complaining I will advice you....
So that is an amazing thing that the wind can create and kind of tide-thing... I have heart from lakes in Russia that have gone dry, but that was because of over-use for factories and irrigation - there must be no such danger over at your Lake - or is there??
Lovely picture and story to share.
Thanks
Els

Great shot with perfect handling of the light conditions. Excellent note too!
Regards, John.

Beautiful composition and nice soft tones here too.. Well done! Regards, Doug
