Photographer’s Note

14 October 2007

St. Simon's Anglican Church, Toronto.

On 1 October 2007 Jocelyn Dulnuan, a 27 year old Filipina live-in maid, was killed in her employer's 15 million dollar mansion. Since then, little to no information has been released and there is a rush to repatriate her body.

No coroners report has been released. No method of death. No released leads as to suspects. No idea of anything whatsoever except that a maid died, no one saw or heard anything, and the employer himself was out of the country.

With the fear of a quick repatriation, there's some concern within the Filipino community that once the body is gone that any hope of justice will go with it.

An extremely powerful image made even more so by the accompanying notes. Given the subject matter I don't think rating the image i.e. giving points is appropriate.

Super powerful pic. Alex to accompany this poignant story in your note. I'm scratching my head here, man, 103 passersby and only Ketih here and myself bothering to say a word.. Sheesh!

A beautiful and strong composition. The accompanying note tells a story no photograph can capture well enough. It's good to see even on a website like this people share their concerns on matters like this. As the site is about learning about the world through photography, the ugly parts of the world should be shared as well.

Due to the situation I think ranking is not appropiate, so no green monster on this one. I think you understand.
