Ah yes, the notorious seagulls that plague our cities and seem to take great pride in s***ting on unsuspecting passerbys below.

This seagull was spotted on a flyby overhead at Canada Place on Vancouver's Coal Harbour. I'm not sure if he was on a scouting mission or a bombing mission- but I kept my eye on him either way.

Other then conversion to black and white- there was only a slight level adjustment. The white/ bright highlights on the bird is from the bright sun shining down on him from just out of the frame.

I hope you like the shot,
- Dan

Hi Dan,
I like the composition and the bird is at the right place. I like the lightning and the sky is a nice bg. The b+w works well.

Beautiful B&W Dan. The sky looks amazing and the light on the seagull looks great. The composition is very nice with plenty of room for the seagull to fly through the frame. The only thing that could make this shot better is if you could have captured the actual moment when he drops the bomb ;)
Regards,
Ryan

Hi Dan, very nicely done conversion. I think the sun's highlights works well in creating an outline of the gulls' body, especially the wings, which makes this really stand out from the background. Nice positioning, as it gives us the clear sense that he is indeed in flight and moving someplace (e.g. top left of the screen).

Hi Dan! Great use of rim lighting here, really helps to spotlight the gull against the sky. Nice work with the B&W conversion, helped to create much texture in the clouds.

Well done!
Doug

Well Dan I do like this black and white rendition here. Flying into the frame and the clouded background certainly adds a wonderful mood of freedom flight to the photo. Good work!

Nice shot Dan! The really great thing about this is that the bird is outlined by sunlight because of some backlighting - which creates a halo kind of effect around him and shows the shape very well. Nice pattern in the sky too, which never hurts! Well done!

Hello Dan!
Simple, but very nice. The 1/3 framing is well done and the contrast is excellent, with great details on the bird appearing sharp and clear. The lights are standing out. Nice work!

Hello Dan,

Excellent shot! I like how you were able to capture this bird from underneath against that amazing sky. I like the light on the seagull as well. Excellent choice of black and white, it brings out the details perfectly! Great work, Dan!

Greetings,
