Photographer’s Note
This is the White Lake Ranch, in the Okanagan Valley, 20km south of Penticton. BC is known for big mountains, big trees, and big waves, but it's an incredibly varied area, with a lot of different terrain and different climate zones too. There are areas of grassland that are perfect for cattle ranching. In fact, the largest cattle ranch in the world is located in BC (the Douglas Lake Ranch). This rolling landscape is naturally home to grass and sage brush, as you can see. This was taken just as the sun was dipping below the hills, with some really good shadows and a spotlight effect from the sun on certain areas.

Ah Ha posting together again I see. Wonderful lighting here Alvin. I think you got your lawn chair out in the late afternoon and sat down and waited for the optimum moment of the lowest possible angle of lighting which is really dramatic here. Very well done and thanks for sharing!

Hey Alvin!
This is a nice landscape shot, with good horizontal elements of the clouds as well as the curves of the rolling hills. The lighting is just superb, creating both depth and warm atmosphere and the houses gives a sense of perspective. One thing, I feel that a closer take would have been much more pronounce and not so distant.
All in all, a nice shot!

Hi Alvin,
Just a few words before I go to bed…Actually I was about to turn the computer off when I noticed your photo and I have to tell you that I like it a lot even if it doesn`t have a perfect reflection
What I like about it is the fabulous warm tones of the sunset and the fact that I can almost smell that grass.
Thank you, and have a good night Alvin.

Alvin,
Something different from you, the countryside, but also very nice. You captured real good light here on the earth with a warm glow and great play with light and shadow. For me that play is the key part in landscape photography...just perfect.
The sky is a bit soft, but helds good enough attention to the darker tones from the foreground...i like it.

Hi Alvin,
With all respect to all of your skillfully
taken photos of mountains and lakes, I feel
kind of refreshment to see a turn in your
chosen subjects for presentation.
This one is, again, beautiful in its
simplicity, with beautiful light and colours
make it look like the best painting coming from
old masters of oil on canvas.
Is that a slight turn in your photographic interest,
subject-wise?

Hi Alvin,
It looks like the ultimate place for huge herds of buffaloes to wander and graze. Fine shadow and light play and a fantastic sky.

Hello Alvin,
The rolling valleys and hills all illuminated by sunlight from a low angle, the colors and resolution all collaborate in producing another superb photograph of British Columbia. The ranch houses in the distance provide useful scale for the "big country." Excellent perspective, superb exposure.
Warm regards,

Hi Alvin,
Many beautiful things here: the landscape in different layers is really depth, inviting to enter and walk to the horizon. The lights and shadows are wisely mixed and taken here, they emphasize the volumes and the relief. It's this magical light over the houses and over th grass the main point in the shot, I think. Finally, a beautiful sky to complete the beautiful image. Really great shot!
Greetings,
Angel.

Hi Alvin,
You really caught the golden tones here well. The clump of buildings are well seen and enhance the scene, with superb shadow effects on the hills and in the foreground. The sky provides great contrast here. What a magic moment! Well captured, Alvin.

This is one of my favorite shots from you. I can't believe it only has 32 points. I guess it's not everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it. The composition is perfect and the lighting is so special. I love how it highlights this little ranch and the surrounding range. The depth of the mountains on the left adds some extra interest to the photo. Great photo.

Ryan

Hi Alvin,
Blue and gold ( Or orange ) are amont my favorite combinations of color in photography: I could not keep quiet after seeing this one. More over there is a lateral low light which makes the picture even more interesting.
I guess you are on vacation because you don't seem to make new postings these days.
All the best - Izzet

Bonjour Alvin
belle composition de ce ranch de l'ouest, les couleurs sont ravivées par le soleil couchant ce qui donne une luminosité partiel mais très belle, ;)

As always I like the light that you have in this photo making it really interest and giving it the "Wow" factor.
After coming from Calgary and Lethbridge the days I spent in Vancouver are not enough so I will definitely come back.
