Strange lake : disappears in autumn !, a photo from Alberta, Prairies

Photographer's Note

Superb this Medicine Lake with this blue water and its small island... but strange also, because it disappears gradually at the autumn : no beautiful turquoises water to be admired but only unpleasant mud!
An underground river collect the water which comes from the neighbourhood glaciers and the surplus from water forms during spring and summer this splendid lake ...
A surprising phenomenon which intrigued the Amerindians who thought there, at a consequence of the capacity of a "wizard medecine "... from where the name was given to this lake.

Hi Jean,
Yes, a strange lake, i have been there and the story is really impressive. Your view here is very well choosen, good play with the trees and the water in combination with the mountains, strong framed composed image. The sky although a bit more darker blue, bit more power in it would give the photo even a bit more in dynamic colour tones.

Bonjour Jean,
typique des eaux de glaciers cette couleur turquoise, j'ai eu l'occasion d'en voir quelques uns en Suisse. Une note très interessante qui nous en apprend pas mal sur ce lac.
Une photo aux couleurs naturelles avec pas mal de profondeur.

Bravo pour cette nouvelle image du Canada. Ce lac curieusement temporaire est magnifique. J'aime aussi la vision spectaculaire des couches géologiques de la montagne, très inclinées. Dans un ensemble de belles couleurs, c'est encore une superbe réalisation.

Quand l'eau arrive de ces fortes pentes, elle doit en effet drainer un paquet de boue !

You are lucky you got sunshine and clear skies. When I visited Medicine Lake two days before you, I got overcast skies and even a sprinkle or two. Great shot.

Hi Jean. Thanks for the interesting note about how the lake disappears in autumn. I have never heard of that happening. I bet an even wider wide-angle would have been even nicer. Still the composition is very well done. Nicely done Jean.

oui c'est étrange l'eau qui dissparait en automne mais la nature a ses secrets et c'est bien ainsi.
Si tout vas bien et si j'ai bien compris la discution de mes parents le canada sera notre prochaine destination l'été prochain alors on verra...
Ici je vois que les couleurs sont parfaites, les montagnes du font en cadre bien le font de l'image ce qui oblige mes yeux a venir regarder le milieu de la photo pour mieu voir l'ilot. Les arbres mis en avant plan formes un beau cadre naturelle.
