Photographer’s Note
My husband was taking his ship the ALGOLAKE out of Hamilton Harbor and onto Lake Ontario. Their was a tug in front of us pushing a barge of supplies for somewhere in Burlington, Ontario. If you look closely you can see people standing on the piers , they gather to watch the big ships go by. I had my camera resting on the window sill in the ship to steady it while I took this photo as I was really zoomed in and looking through the window ( my filter :o)
Probably my last post for awhile , my husband comes home tomorrow to stay home on holidays for a month! :o)
I'll be checking in to say hi and check on your photos when I can though.!
Have a great evening

Hi Donna,
Excellent POV allows us to see the top of the big ship and onto the mighty little tug. This photo is wonderfully framed by the canal and the yellow tower compliments the blue water beautifully.

Hi Donna,
Well composed image of exiting the harbor with good symmetry of piers and lighthouses, good soft colors and fine sharpness. I like how the piers seems to be hanging in the air!

Hello Donna,
Interesting point of view, and what you see is well composed!
This is an angle most of us never did see in real, and I'm amazed to know the scale given by the people on the pier...
Pleasant details, maybe boost sharpness a tad?
Greetings,

This perspective gives an excellent idea of the size of the ship where you were. I never thought you had such big ones sailing the lakes in Canada. I like the composition and the nice colours too. Well done.

You have used your own ship perfectly to lead the eye to the tug and the symmetry and perspective of the twin piers work well to enclose the whole scene. It's a little soft and could do with a little more sharpness, but it is an excellent composition! Well done

Donna, you really crafted a wonderful composition with this shot! I love the two piers on both sides giving the guidance and leding my eyes into the image. The tug in front of the bigger ship opens another eye avenua with the water movement and embracing the boat in its back. Placing the bigger boat off center was a great move.
I looked into your personal webpage and loved your documentary of the Eire storm. There are some outstanding shots that you could post at TE easily.
Have good holidays with your captain!

Hi Donna,
Well composed with the two piers on each side nicely balancing one another and the tug providing further balance. I like the fine cropping job of the ship in the foreground. This is very artistically presented. Oh, and please tell your husband that he is not to interfere with your important work on TE! Cheers...later.

Well done sjot Donna from the right perspective to display the channel out and the little tug boat in full swing out in front. I think for this kind of photo a centered placement of the ship details vs. the piers there had been ok

HI Donna,
The near to far feel of it is great .. the dimension is amplified by the tone. The graphical element of the near bits of ship are great .. The tone is interesting .. It seems like the window has had an effect on the color I might play with (even thought what you have is pretty) .. or is it really that turquoise .. very nice image in any case.
take care,
John

Hi Donna,
Great framing and color with amazingly good detail for being on a moving boat. Quite a unique POV. Your note about people watching the big boats go through reminds me of traversing Dodd Narrows by Vancouver Island. The tides are so strong that the narrows are only passable at slack tide; so boats line up to pass through. We were in a very light trimaran and nearly got run down by a much heavier old wooden boat. You could hear the spectators gasping in excitement.

Hi Donna,
Just checkin'in to see if there were more complaints from you, about grass and such....
What a huge ship - what fun you must have had being there - yes I see the tiny tiny people below in the pier.
Good composition, nice to see what's going on on the Great Lakes....
