Photographer’s Note

This is a picture of the clock tower in the Old Port in Montreal. I decided to put this one from my last picture hunt because it showed how much I've learned in the past years about photography (thanks to TE and thanks to you!).

The new picture is original except a soft sharpen and the framing. No crop, no levels, no curves. It has a big part of sky, but then, it was pretty nice that evening... isn't it ?

(Exposure was 13 seconds)

Hello Simon,
That's a terrific composition, esp., including the path to the tower. The color of the sky adds much appeal. You are right, this is an improvement over the earlier attempt. Regards,

Hello Simon -

I looked at both images and you have really progressed. This image clear and is nice and sharp well into the background. The composition is spot on with the railing being used as a leading line to the clock tower. The clock tower is slightly OE'd but not to the point of losing important detail. Was this a RAW image? If so, try doing a double process and merge together to correct for the OE of the tower. Or, try using Shadows and Highlights to correct the OE. Otherwise, very well done.

Absolutley fantastic use of colours and a beautiful example of nighttime photography. I'm amazed you didn't have any noise issues.

Personally, I like the use of the sky - the orange/reds offset the blue light on the left hand side. TFS.

Très bonne compo ou la clotûre guide le regard vers la tour et le pont aussi. Toujours intéressant la photo nocturne et pleine de belles surprises.

Ouin...pas mal mieux! Très beau, surtout le ciel. Belle profondeur amenée par la clôture. J'ai l'impression que l'horizon penchouille un petit peu, non?
