Maid of the Mist Photo

Photographer’s Note

The thing is, although it's a very touristic thing to do, when visiting Niagara Falls a ride on the boat Maid of the Mist is of course a must do thing.
It takes you very close in to the falls, which is impressive. That's the second time I've visited Niagara Falls and I'm still impressed of the amount of water that streams down Niagara River year after year.

Niagara Falls is not very high, but it's the most powerful waterfall in North America and it's a valuable source of hydroelectric power for Ontario and New York.

Brilliant shot Christian - more than a little over-sharpened in truth - but I'm forgiving you that for producing such a spectacular angle, and shot!! :)

i've taken the mist also..
there's always that same rainbow..
it's a really wet ride.. i'm not bringing my camera again..

An excellent view of the Falls and the boat Christian.
You have successfully conveyed the feeling of turbulence and wetness of being on board.The power of the Falls is evident.

Hi Christian,
this strength of the nature is surely a thing to see, even if very tourist, I think that if water were firm, there would surely be less tourists :-). However you have succeeded insplendidly stopping and to compose a good photo.

Christian I saw this photo in your gallery yesterday and knew I had to return to add my comment. Perhaps this photo alone is one of the best captures I have ever seen of Niagara Falls. I love the fast shutter speed freezing the falling water in the top of the frame, the thundering mist and the Maid of the Mist topped off with a wonderful rainbow. Excellent to say the least. Thanks for sharing!

WOW... amazing image. I just love the contrast of the incredible powerful waterfal and that soft soft rainbow. The water of the waterfal is so sharp that it seems a wall of snow!
