Salut Claire,

Très, très bon comme image ici. Je trouve que tu as réussi a capturer de l'amour, de la joie et du plaisir dans la même photo. Le cadrage serré fonctionne tout à fait parfaitement pour nous faire découvrir l'artiste et sa passion.
La passion qui semble ici vivre des émotions puissantes qui poussent l'artiste à unifier toutes ses énergies spirituelles et physiques pour créer une œuvre artistique. On pourrait ajouter que ton image traduit également la passion de deux artistes, Mme Esperanza et Mme De La Lune....
C'est inspirant cette photo et me donne envie de partir faire de la photo immédiatement.

A wonderful portrait Claire, you've really captured her passion and sense of abandonment - she looks totally lost in the music.
I like how you used her raised arm - not only does it provide good balance to the whole image, but I also like the shapes it has made with the lines of the instrument.
Good B&W conversion, and great light, but I think the image's success is really down to the expression you captured on the girl's face.
Excellent.

PS : en regardant son instrument je suis juste en train de penser que j'aimerais retrouver ma main au sens propre surtout...je viens m'opérer hier de ma main droite (un truc banal, le nerf carpien), j'ai retrouvé l'usage de la main mais j'ai toujours mal, impossible de faire de la photo (avec mon gros machin) avant quelques jours...

Sublime!moi qui aime bien les photos de musiciens...je suis gaté,son visage exprime une joie profonde...elle se mord la levre de plaisir en pleine communion avec son instrument...c'est jubilatoire!
J'aime bien ce cadrage en gros plan bien rempli qui va a l'essentiel,le manche divise harmonieusement l'image avec un tier pour la main et le bras et une large place pour le visage radieux(et sa large chevelure:-)...
Plus personnellement j'espere pouvoir faire quelques photos d'un groupe de ta ville qui vient en france ce mois ci:Arcade fire!il faut pour ça que je passe mon petit compact a l'entrée...

The girl here lives the moment. For her, this moment is everything. Nothing else is important for her.
And you caught this splendid moment of transubstantiation, the moment of passion.

Hi Claire,

we can even forgive you for being away from TE so much, if you keep coming back once every two weeks with such amazing photos!!!

This is quite remarkable: those shadow variations (to use a word from classical music) on her face are great... and all that detail we can see in her hair and sweater, even if they are almost black...

And her closed eyes: something that typically ruins a picture, but here it works the other way around... it does not close our pathway to her soul, it mysteriously opens it wide...

Could not find the words to comment this photo, Claire. It's that kind of ART I use to stay mute in front of - feeling not thinking I mean. And to say a word one should think a little don't one ?. I do refuse to think, wishing not to spoil the moment and the impression.

Bonjour Claire
Cette année est la première année où je ne fais pas acte de présence au festival,je ne sais trop pourquoi.
Quel concentration!Elle est "musique"on sent qu'elle ne fait qu'un avec son instrument et que aucun des deux ne controle l'autre,mais plutôt participe à un dialogue à une voie.Je me dois d'aller l'écouter.

Un cadrage serré qui concentre toute l'émotion sur les traits du visage,une lumière juste correcte,avec un petit reflet agréable,bonne position de ses mains et une partie de l'instrument,sans qui est ne serait pas ici.

Un travail à la Claire,tout simplement.

Long time no see Claire...

You've really managed to capture her feeling of the music. She seems right into it- indeed. The composition is excellent as you captured the hand in action on the instrument which gives enough explanation as to what it is- yet also managing a nice tight crop on the young lady. Quite the bushy hair which surprisingly stands out well against the dark backdrop- thanks to the highlights.

You really catched that moment! That smile, along with her hand, worths a thousand words...!

How far were you from the subject? it should be difficult to obtain such cleanliness of the image (no noise) under the poor light that these events often have... At least I have trouble to take such pictures with my camera under such conditions...!

I also love to play music and I surely understand the joy one can have sometimes while playing a melody...!

Salut Claire,

Ça fait une bonne demi-douzaine de fois que je viens voir ta photo, que je la regarde attentivement, mon esprit vagabonde et je repars sans pouvoir me prononcer sur le sentiment qui m’anime. Eureka! Ce matin, je viens de tout comprendre...

En secondaire I, j’ai embrassé une fille pour la première fois et si ta photo n’indiquait pas que cette jazzwoman est né en 1984, j’aurais crû que c’était elle! Elle avait le même visage et surtout une grosse tête frisée similaire.... Bien qu’elle ait été la première, elle ne fût pas marquante, puisque je ne l’aimais pas et c’est sans doute ce qui explique mes sentiments ambigus...

Maintenant que j’ai éclairci la situation, je peux me concentrer sur ta photo sans avoir l’esprit vagabond... Tu étais vraiment en première loge pour lui braquer ta lentille ainsi sous le nez! C’est ton premier portrait "gros plan" dans ta galerie Claire!

Pour avoir lu quelques commentaires lors d’une visite précédente, j’utiliserai les mots "en transe" pour décrire son état second... Ça fait plus rangé, même si je partage les références des autres membres. J’aime bien ton cadrage serré sur son visage et sa main, qui révèle l’essentiel.

Le titre est bon, non seulement pour sa performance étincelante, mais aussi pour ses cheveux qui suggère une effervescence, un feu d’artifice...

This is really nice, Claire--her passion just shines through really strongly! Your ideal exposure catches a glint of light off her hair and her necklace, telling us that she is on stage. Everything is dynamic, at an angle--her head and her every finger. I like the close crop, which fits with the way she is closing out the world to absorb herself in her music.

Maybe next you can photograph the singer who shares your name, now that would be interesting! Regards, Ken.

Olá Claire, first of all thanks for the link: I'm listen to her music as I write these words and how could a post be better than having also sound in it? At least, I'm in the right mood. Now, I need the right words. She's fast indeed. And what an attractive presence she has...and that hair is gorgeous! That expression of joy is marvellous and even a bit contageous - If even we could enjoy every minutes of life with such expression...Just that face would be suficient for the success of this image, but you also have a beautiful b&w and an impressive tecnhical quality on this close up. I'm not an expert at all, but I don't see any flaw in this image. It's perfect!

Wahhh!! Claire i am not getting out enough here on TE these days .....this is just stunning - I am so impressed at what you are achieving with the 350D this is a compositional and tonal delight for sure but what you have captured in her face is pure music, pure joy of creation - a fantastic portrait and it is my joy and privilege to add it to my favourites......we don't need to talk about love of subjects.......no words are neccessary......

I really like the expression in her face, it shows a lot of love and passion for the music she's playing. Thanks to your link we can even listen to her (if not I would had asked for a link), gives the image a whole new dimension. Technically perfect b&w work.

Elle est belle la demoiselle. Il y a toute cette émotion qui dégage de ce visage, de ces dents mordant sa lèvre inférieure, le sourire, cette main contortionné, qui doit lui faire mal à force de jouer mais qui DOIT jouer, même ses 3 points be beauté me font flipper.

Quand on regarde la photo, on arrive presque à croire que c'est l'instrument qui joue d'elle et qu'elle, tout ce qu'elle arrive à faire c'est s'accrocher à lui, et qu'elle aime ce jeu. Elle semble danser avec sa contrebasse.

Et toi, tu étais là pour capter le moment. Tu as fait des choix. Le résultats de tes choix sont hallucinants. Le portrait en gros plan concentre l'émotion. La main, la contrebasse et le visage, c'est tout ce qu'on a de besoin. Ça rend la photo plus intense. Et elle a des cheveux...et toi tu as trouvé la texture dans ses cheveux!Woowww!

C'est une photo de très grande qualité. En plus, tu m'as permis de découvrir sa musique via son myspace. J'adore!!:D J'adore sa voix!

Ohhh, et elle est vraiment très belle...

je prends enfin le temps d'écrire quelques mots, pas des grands mots, juste mes mots à moi... j'aime tout simplement... il y a de une mood dans cette prise, l'expression de la contre bassiste, la position de sa main sur l'instrument... j'entends presque les sons en plus de l'image... De la grande photo qui rejoint un lieu où je ne me lasserai pas de la regarder...
