What surprised me last night during walking was that this little girl, whom I accidentally photographed at an outdoor street event in a different part of town a year ago (I have put a shot just for fun in the WS), recognized me just as I did her. We had a lovely encounter on the street, not knowing each other at all yet being connected by an invisible thread of warmth and friendliness... well, I just fell in love with her, really. Here I took a shot of her curiousity in the middle of the Byward Market...

A beautifully crafted diamond of a street photography...A child photography...A portrait photography... A love photography...An urban photography...
You name it and it's there..mixed together...
Gosh, what a beauty...(I mean photography, that is (:-))).

Good night, Sasa.

g.

This is photography at its best. I would never think to talk a child picture from above as you did. However, after seeing what you bring today, I must admit I have a very wrong idea in my head. There is nothing wrong with taking photos from above, providing we do the right thing.
I can only imagine all the possible dialogues that the girl could be having with you. Everything is wonderful but I really would like to mention her eyes. They are the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen on TE. Congratulations.
Antonio

"A Moment of Recognition"...for me - it is the moment of undeniably most fascinating encounter...seein kids grow, and having a chance to compare year-to-year "progress"...
photography-wise: it is so natural that what counts here is the eyes - these darg, big eyes loaded with childish curiosity...
lovely stuff (I mean photography, that is (:-)))...
good morning, sasa, from warszawa...:-))

Hello sasa. One can say only appreciative: very beautifully. Best regards, Wolfgang.

The wide angle REAL close view on this kid is great..live thoat enlarged face, those huge eyes, that innocence. She reminds me of my son a lot, especially the eyes. Innocent, lovely work. Great moment.

"Ah, it's you!" says the little girl. :) The way she opens her big black eyes is a bliss. And the light you captured on her face... it clearly must be glowing inside her innocence. What a photo my dear friend.

Spooky Sasa - I was going to call my today's photograph by the same title (THE rather than A) - I called it 'The Birth of Mirth' in the end - I could think this appropriate to your image too - this is just too delightful for words - George is right this is a complete diamond of a shot - she is extraordinary - a very well framed gem even dow to the leg disappearing upper left.......wonderful!

I´m not a very big fan of photos about childs, although I cannot escape to their charming as a human been I am... But I think what I like here is more the sense of curiosity and fascination of her eyes regardless age. Let me be a bit egocentric, but I try to fight with life in order to preserve the capacity of surprise this little girl shows here, so thank you Sasa for reminds me the path to follow. Take care.

Getting down to her level, her world. This is an interesting departure, direction... Echoes of Kajspice here, VERY close work, close to the face, requires trust, eh? I like this gutsy wind blowing here very much. Exciting stuff.
All the best,
Francis

Great closeup, she has a very beautifull eyes. Great moment captured.
Cheers,
Jean-Claude

Très belle photo, de ce petit bout qui est curieu et son regard bien fixé sur l' objectif. Amitiés Thomas

Hi Sasa,
How more pretty a little lady could be?
Look at those contemplating black eyes and the streched eyebrows, open mouth, the berry nose, and tasseled black hair. And her pose looks very interested in your camera too :)
Maybe those encounters lead to the birth of a good photographer in the future. Why not???
I loved her and your presentaiton of her gestures Sasa. Great timing to catch those cute details. Cheers,
Deniz

hello Sarolta
so funny and cute face !!! lovely composition !!! great portrait !!! excellent framing and POV, very good photo, well done
regards
jo

Hi Sasa,
Your B&W have always been a reference, and this one illustrate it perfectly, how do you make such a wonderful toned image?

Great and funny POV also.

Vince

Brilliant, and only a street portrait that you could take. Some great beady wide eyes there, really engaging the viewer.

Hi Sasa.
You give meaning to the street photography.
I cannot imagine better photograph from this incredibly, full of curiosity, beautiful face.
I don't know what to say more.
My respects
Kostas

Picture of the day as i'm browsing the gallery ;)
Excellent, really brilliant work sasa.
"eeehhh ohhh is there somebody inside?"
Lol
Full of taste and emotion this one

Really great shot. Kid shots can become really cutesy and a cliche. This is way above that and then some. I love the way you have got down to her level and the perspective down the street really opens this photo up. Brilliant work

Cheers
Peter

and with top quality and brilliant POV.
a double surprise so...the children and the picture!
thanks, ciao

Hi Sarolta
excellent how this lovely child look at your strange camera.
Beautifull glance.
The black and white is perfect here.
Well done

Hey sasa, get off from behind this camera, i recognized you... aren't you the famous and talented photographer from Budapest? LOL

Very tender shot, sharing a handful of emotions! This is precisely the type of photo i like!
Eric

Hi Sasa,

It's a frame really good and original. This POV makes the little girl even more little, but she occupes all the frame, and the perspective reached is beautiful and a little un-real, almost like a surrealistic picture. Very funny, and magnificent! Thanks,

Angel.

Ha ha...what a cute little brilliant portrait...you stooped down to below her eye level to catch that innocently inquisitive look, then that convering street in the distance is just right for the depth, beautiful black and white.

Wow...she remembered you from all of that time ago? What a memory...I'd be lucky to remember that far back myself. Perhaps its because I am getting old..

She has grown!

Hi Sasa, wonderful POV on the little girl!
the expression is amazing !
i love the natural position of the body and the curiosity from the big eyes!
another great work my dear!
ciao!
Valeria

An extraordinary and demanding pose set in a quirky composition. The feel is very fresh and surprising. regards Kevin

Hi Sasa,

I feel this is hard to critique as I find it very original, same as your previous shot... the tilt, the almost-centered compo, the close up feel, aggressive cropping of people... and the way it all falls into place in the end.

This one has an extra human depth somewhere inside those little big eyes...

"Such big eyes you have, grandchild!" Yes, the eyes make the shot here, wide and curious. It's remarkable for a child that young to remember someone after seeing them once a year ago. You must have made quite an impression. The framing is perfect here, Sasa, with the sidewalk disappearing at the right spot and the girl seeming to peek into our world through some looking glass. Beautiful! Regards, Ken.

Hello Sasa

She is so cute!...her big eyes are so beautiful.
Well framed and POV.You captured in the best way possible.
Really beautiful portrait of a child.TFS

Have a nice day,
Lucian

Can't help to stop for a moment and look at your charming model every time it is somewhere around...
What a shot. And what inquiring eyes... Don't say a lie, don't pretend anything, don't do anything wrong in child's presence - all will be remembered. So go on taking pictures and smiling to them. Great, extraordinary photo.
Greetings T.

Ha! Let me be silly for a few seconds. She look like me! :) I had those big eyes and curly long hair when I was her age!
Now, let me be a serious critiquer (!) for another few seconds. Excellent framing (though I would like the feet being there, but...). There is that effect: we have the feel that she is looking at the inside of the little black box. Like when we were young and we were trying to look "inside" the television to meet our favorite characters! ;) You achieved to photography the curiosity of a kid, which is not that easy to do. Try it! :))
Good one. That makes me smile.
Claire

Bonjour Sarolta,

So cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute, I love her glance !

Hi Sarolta,

So lovely! Such a gorgeous portrait! You can’t invent such an expression...

Through her eyes, you can define what childhood is all about; sontaneity, curiosity, playfulness. It’s so cute to see her standing the way she is, obviously discovering something very intriguing.... Excellent composition and impeccable black and white conversion.

Amicalement,

André

Hi Sarolta,
a surprising portrait, this small girl who seeks one moment of notoriety in front of this strange apparatus…
You succeeded in showing the astonishment in its simpler expression.

And hi again, Sarolta.

This one is another good exemple of your portafolio.
You were playing with this little kid and then what would a simple portrait becomes a wonderful photo.
Maybe we should be like them and act with the most ingenious behaviour.
Then, we would be more natural and spontaneous. And we would see the world with another eyes.

Regards.

(the WS is nice too)

Hehehe.... Sasa, what an adorable girl! I cannot stop smiling when I see her. She has this big round eyes, so utterly curious about you and probably the black machine in front of your eyes... hehehe.. One year ago she was looking at you with the same expression. You definitely had an impact on her...and now she has it on all of us :))

But why we like big eyes?

Stephen J. Gould, a famous paleontologist wrote an article for Natural History on the evolution of Mickey Mouse. In this article he dissected the reason of why we find big eyes attractive. For this, he showed an example of the morphological transformation of Mickey Mouse, that become cuter with time. And how he got it? He became cuter by taking the appearance of a baby with large eyes relative to his head, small nouse, and disproportionately large head and short limbs… So, the conclusion is… we like large eyes because we like babies not the other way around…

Amazing Picture! Amazing curious eye! Great portrait!

Great shot Sarolta. Composition is, well, tough to explain. Perfect actually...it looks like the little girl was inside the lens and actually ducking down to make sure she was in the photo. Her expression is warm, surprised, happy and inquisitve all at once. I'll leave it at that. A great portrait.

Very nice.
John

Hi SArolta,
