Sometimes an ill wind will blow good after all....

To get to a friend's cottage on a remote islet in Georgian Bay (part of Lake Huron, containing thousands of mostly uninhabited islands) we had to drive hours up from Toronto, and then take a water taxi run by the local native band.

Unfortunately, there had been a medical emergency and our ride was delayed. Fearful that we wouldn't be able to go at all that night, as the treacherous shoals don't permit safe night boating, we were so relieved when the boat finally arrived a little before sunset....and our ride turned out to be an amazing journey into one blazing sunset scene after another, the beauty of which this picture can only hint at!
