salut Sarolta

Cold? I've almost forgetton what it's like, it's been so warm in Europe and such an early spring, in the 20s in Szeged and Debracen last last week.
Anyway, a nice topical shot, and rather iconic for Canada. A pity his hat is a bit lost in the goalie's (or whatever you call him) top.

I like a lot of what is going on here Hobbit BUT there is something also which doesn't work for me so well - the quality of toning and exposure are fantastic as always, the tilt and the dynamic take on the 'all action' runner is great, his shadow is well framed and relationship to the other smiling player works well. I really like the subject immensely and the context of their game is just wonderful........so what is there not to like - the missing ingredient for me is the goalie - OK I understand there is maybe a joke here - the guy is running to get the ball but it isn't exactly in the heat of the game - the goalie has his back turned ...I can read the humour and playfulness etc. ...BUT I think that compositionally the cut of the running player across the goalie is not so good really - if we had him facing us it would change because we would notice the face rather than the blank presence, as it is there is a collision of dark tones which become indistinct - he's like an actor facing away from the audience - his facial presence would so much increase the dynamic interplay in this picture ......as would just marginally different timing.......
best wishes Kev
p.s. I like the original too but the timing is still out for me....

Hello Sarolta,
You have captured a great moment in these kids lives and when they are adults the memories will flow of those days playing road hockey. A true piece of Canadiana. The picture is well composed and I can just hear the "CAR" now. well done.

Hi Sarolta,
A very typical scene in canadian streets these days...
I really like the motion of the first boy, very stylish and dramatic. His foot in the air creates a great shadow, as it accentuate the movement.
The «neighborhood feeling» is well rendered, the light is great and the tilt is appropriate. Too bad the goaler wasn’t facing your lens.
Have a nice week-end!

Wonderful movement you captured here. Really well done! The long shadows and caps the boys are wearing show us that it still not close to the summer, but getting there.
Greetings, Dennis

Hi Sasa,
Familiar scene this for me, from my city Kolkata, just a change of game, cricket instead of hockey, specially if its a holiday like today. Nice sepia as usual, seems you are back on your 'high pedestal' once again after the Red Coke:) But it wasn't bad either, I particularly liked the idea of partial desaturation.
With Greetings from India

What a dynamic capture, Sasa, the frame swings with motion, the tilt is perfectly done and the posture of the boy dances in rhythm. Lovely black and white. The crop is excellent. The full frame has a different flavor but the crop enhances the critical photographic aspects.

Another great tilt, with interesting shadows, and lots of dynamics... Kev is right that it would be better with a different goalie position, but that's just a detail for me... this picture is a joy to watch, feels like spring.

Better late than never! I have been using my t-shirts here for two weeks already! It's true!
About the pic, i love the neighbourhood feeling in that traditional image across Canada.
Very good, I really like it!

Sarolta, I do enjoy looking at your shots and particularly like your way of presenting/converting images in monochrome. You have a talent for finding the interesting side of everyday scenes. I'm glad you showed the uncropped version here, actually. I very much enjoyed seeing the shadows of the tree branch as part of the scene and think they added a little something extra on this one.

I love the uncropped scene as well, Sasa, whit the shadow of the branches. This photo brings me back memories of the stay in Montreal four years ago during the summer. People there like to play in the streets as well and I do love life in the streets wideworld. The dynamism is fantastic dear... Thanks.
Hi Sasa,
I don't agree with Kev about the face of your running figure, cause this time, with your POV, we are able to see where he is goaling to. If you were on the other side, he would be looking like runnig to you, which would look quite weird and maybe disturbing for me. With your POV, he looks less threatening for the beholder, and we get to know what his aim is. Coloring and tilt is of course very good, and this one is again a showstooper in terms of how you manage shadows. What would be even better? Maybe if the runnig boy's head had a lighter background, it could be better contrastwise. And i must say that i liked the original version better. Maybe the shadow of the tree hold too much space and this was what caused you the cropping but anyway, i liked it more.
Cheers,
Deniz

Smart crop, Sarolta with good street photography and composition! Your tilt here adds dynamic feel to this already highly dynamic scene, the lighting conditions making this picture so dramatic and full of energy! You can just feel the bursting power of that boy, the leap toward the skidding puck...What a decisive moment!
Well done!

Hi Sasa,
I really feel like you're having sort of
a little break, and enjoying that sunshine
that feels soooo warm after a long freezing
winter.
Judging by the kids outfit, it's still far
from warm, but at least good enough to take
up some sport activities, even in your own
street.
I like the amount of energy that bursts out
of this little guy running for his ball. And
the goalie (is that what he's called?) seems
like not convinced with the sunshine ... and
still freezing!
LOL

THATS the kind of shot I like Sasa! Although I love your highly stlized and beautiful plays with light, here its all about the content over the form. Though I mist say form is awesome. Love the shadow, the catch in mid run. Just great.

My vote goes to the ws full version. The composition is so much better, more suitable to my wide angle addiction. The game of shadows more meaningful, the graphic appeal more poignant. It's a pity that the goalkeeper thrown his back at us... he seems disconnected from the scene. It looks that only the foreground kid is involved in the action... Love the tilt, the toning and your b&w conversion. But you really should switch the versions TE placement. :)

Hi Sasa, i like a lot the action here and your trademark....the shadow!
full of life and dynamisme this image, and the smile of the boy is very good..
I have a little preference for the workshop...with the eye on the long shadows and the attention to the action..
Take care!
ciao!

Works well for me Sarolta, love the shadows, especially of the kid in the foreground, and in general just love the typical Canadian scene you've presented.

Sasa,
Its been a while i now have time to post and comment on TE! I love both versions and I can't quite decide which i like more. Gorgeous use of light and shadow as always and lovely sepia tones not to mention the great tilt and timing. A pleasure as always.
Cheers

i quite like the entire scene too;-) but this crop adds dynamism. this kid takes it all! AS Kev said, pity the goal is not into the game...;-) not your fault though!

Hello Sarolta. A b&w photo of full dynamics and action. Worth seeing like always. However it disturbs me at the composition that the current boy is directly before the boy in the gate. Best regards, Wolfgang.
