Another shot from the Kennedy River/ Kennedy Lake area between Port Alberni and Vancouver Island West Coast towns of Tofino and Ucluelet.

As we were driving down the highway, I spotted this snow trail (small road) leading off into the unknown. I liked how the branches that lined the trail blended together, and how the trail led the eye into the image, and as the eye pans up to these two tall trees that look down onto it.

I hope you like the shot,
- Dan

How do you rate to get two shots on an hour apart ???

Hi Dan,

This is a well exposed shot in difficult conditions. It has a great lead in and works really well in B&W.

Best regards,
Paul.

hey dan,

This is a shot that grows on you it doesn't look like much to begin with but as you look you realize how well composed and exposed it is. As someone who grew up and lives in BC you see a lot of these kind of trails and you are completely right when you say they lead to the unknown. for some that is a draw but for me I know the kind of unknown things the bush of BC can bring and it is kind of distrubing ;). This shot is a good one that fills me with foreboding, maybe I am projecting here. Good shot and well done.

Craig

Well this is not my idea of Vancouver or Vancouver island. I always imagine both places being free of snow yearround. I like the mood and the sense of loneliness felt here. Having no people on the composition creates a more secluded place. I noticed you had a cloudy, perhaps foggy day, but the picture is still good. Thanks Dan.

Hello Daniel. I can see your reason for capturing a vertical scene like this and can appreciate your decision to show the long view through these trees. But what attracts my eyes in this scene is those tall firs in the fog. I would love to have seen a view of those trees and less of the foreground. Just my opinion Dan. The background trees reminds me of some scenes I saw on the west coast. Thanks for sharing!

Howdy Dan,

This photo has a sexy aspect! Esp. the miniature...
The optics are such that it looks as if the sides are bending in like a waste. I love it!

I like the black/grey/white compo here. Tfs, Jay
