Photographer’s Note
This will be my 100th pst on TE. I cordially thank all the support that I got over here and how it affected my photography. I know my intro might say that it is my 101st photo ... but it is my 100th photo
For this post I wanted to share with you a one of the best night of camping I have ever had in Canada. This photo shows the Star trails that I captured while statying overnight in a Yurt close to Taylor Lake in Gatineau Park. It was 30 minute drive + 12 km of skiing from my house.
It was a very cold night with the temperature of -25 C but it was'nt windy or humid so it was just perfect for a winter enthusiast like me and my friends who went there. We had a fire stove burning all the time so we were nice and toasty.
The stillness of the night and crispiness of air and snow is beyond any poetry that I am capapble of. One just has to be there .....
PS: Sorry about the big watermark on the photo

Hi Sarju
This is an interesting composition. The low speed give an interesting aspect.
It's excellent.
Congratulation for your 100 posts.

Hey Sarju!
Congrats on your 100th posting! Feels like ages since I've last seen you on TE....
Interesting shot of the star light trails, I've always wanted to try this type of shot, but's it's never worked for me.
What was your secret?
I think a black frame would have been a bit more appealing- but that's a personal preference anyways.
All the best, and here's to the next 100!

Hi Sarju
Interesting shot because I can see the frozen lake and the mountain and not just a sky like in other photos of the same type. Good job.

Finally :)))) I'm very happy to see you here, Sarju. And congratulations on your 101..ups, sorry, 100th post! Again, I see your fascination for the cosmic world, too cold environments, freezing to death, near a tent, while doing some strange capture of the stars in a 20min or so of exposure. Crazy guy you are! :)) A actually find this image very beautiful and I like it more than the other, because of a better context, with that tree and mountains in the background. Yes, the watermark is a bit too big and it takes impact of the almost not noticeble snowed foreground (which is also beautiful), but I understand your reasons.
A very poetic image, that shows well your personality (I think :)
Thanks a lot and wish you a continuation of a happy life!
Cheers,
Ricardo

Hi Sarju
I do not see your exif data, but it is a long exposure and I find that the tree you used as a frame is still sharp,so that means absolutly no wind.I know you said it in your note, but it rare that there is no movement whatsoever.
I am not impress by star trail usually, but the foreground you choose lends itself into a very interresting and attractive composition.
A good souvenir to bring back.
Congrats for this milestone.
What watermark???? :-)))))
I hope you had company to keep you warm.

Hi Sarju.
This is a joy to see, something that my heart says to wave at you.. congrats for the 100th post. Why was the frames edges not shown ? was it cropped off? I wish I had a wider view about this image. TFS.

Congratulations on number 100, always interesting to see the stars trail and with a nice background it's even better ! Nicely framed with the trees on the right and the huge sky, keep on the good work !

Hello Stranger. It's been a long time. Congratulations on your century. The star trails create an interesting abstract. I like the way you composed the image by using the tree as a frame on the right. I've never tried anything like this but in the UK it would be impossible because there is always wind.

Dear Sarju,
I'm not forgiving you for the watermark :) It gets in the way for me to wholly enjoy and studying your work. It's liken to have a dust speck on your work if I might say. But then again this is the Internet and one must protect one's work. Two things are going for this work; the star trail itself and the branches at right. Both contribute to the poetic value of this work of yours.

Bani

Hello Sarju,
Je trouve que les filés d'étoiles sont toujours de très beaux clichés !
Tu as parfaitement réussi à prendre cette pluie d'étoiles !
Félicitation pour ton centième post !
