Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands), homeland of the Haida people.

-------------------------------------------------------
"We do not inherit this land from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children." (Haida saying)
-------------------------------------------------------

Haida Gwaii, known to the Haida as "Islands of the People", is a diverse archipelago of over 150 islands located on the Northwest coast of British Columbia, Canada. Nestled below the Alaskan Panhandle and separated from the British Columbia mainland by the Hecate Straits, Haida people have lived here for over 12,000 years.

The islands are home to an abundance of wildlife, including the largest subspecies of black bear.

The picture:

The fog came with the morning.
This was the day I would start my journey into the wilderness. I prepared my gear, took the kayak into the water. A seal popped up from the water and followed the action closely.
After a hour, I was ready.
The fog has disappeared. Peace and quite. An omen for my journey.
The seal dived, and swam. I followed him...

Hi Christian. A very nice picture. Your coments are very interestig. The mirror efect you have made is very good and composition is excelent. Congratulations.

Hi, a beautiful stilness in this shot, the mirror like water and reflections are stunning. I love your notes, thanks for sharing, Jean

Christian,
Wow! what a great shot!!! The reflection is outstanding as is the color and lighting. Your composition is fine, I like the way you have divided the reflection with the log. One side of the log is very still and the other has a little ripple to it. Great work!

Asa

Hi Christian,

absolutely breathtaking ..
the slow reflective water communicates such peace and the thoughts of a crisp cold day .. I really love the strikingly different shades of green in your foreground and background as well.

take care,

John

Bonjour Christian,
le différence d'exposition entre la colline d'avant plan et celle d'arrière plan crée la profondeur.
Les reflets sont magnifiques, dans des eaux calmes.
Best regards.
Daniel.

Hi , Christian .
When one sees a beautiful photo like this one , it is obvious why we must do everything we can to pass on such jewels on to our children . I did know the saying , but was not aware that it came from the Haida people .
It is so true !
I like your very personal note !
All the best to you
Dorte.

Hola Christian,
