[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Initialement incorporé sous le nom de Sherbrooke, Eastern Townships and Kennebec Railway en 1869, cette compagnie est devenue la compagnie de chemin de fer Québec Central le 23 février 1875. La jonction avec la compagnie de chemin de fer Lévis et Kennébec s'est effectuée juste ici, à Beauce Jonction, aujourd'hui Vallée-Jonction, juste à gauche de la gare. La gare illustrée ici a été restaurée et est un centre d'interprétation ferroviaire des plus intéressant. Ce chemin de fer qui relie Québec à Sherbrooke a deux embranchements; l’un à Tring-Jonction pour le Lac-Mégantic et l’autre ici à Vallée-Jonction pour Saint-George-de-Beauce et de là pour bifurquer à l'est vers Sainte-Sabine et le Lac-Frontière.

Pour ceux qui veulent en savoir plus sur ce chemin de fer, il y a l'excellent ouvrage de l'auteur (sans fausse modestie), déposé à Bibliothèque et Archives Canada et à la Biblithèque et Archives du Québec sous le numéro ISBN 2-9800652-3-4. Bonne lecture...

P.S. Photographer did not dare posting the enhanced release of this image shown in the workshop where the poles at right are masked by a powerful RPO cancel on a Small Queen 3 Cents used aboard the Mail Car of the Quebec Central Railway. RPO's cancel bears the indentification number of Ludlows #RR-135 and is dated January 7 1897.

Full /RR-135 RPO Cancel reads as follow:

QUEBEC CENTRAL RWY / S / JA 7 / 97 / M. C.

Where S indicates a south-bound train and initials M. C. are for Mail Car.

Hi Jean Pierre,
Well composed with ideal lighting. You really controlled glare from the snow here and I like the different layers of interest for the eye to absorb. The WS version is smashing and apropos, though as your note points out, is undoubtedly exceeding the TOS for a main post. A wonderful winter capture, JP. Regards.

Bonsoir Jean Pierre,
Pour une gare aussi importante, le batiment semble bien petit.
Ta note est, comme toujours, intéressante, savante. Ce qui est agréable avec toi c'est qu'on regarde une belle image et qu'en même temps on s'instruit.
Je constate aussi que chez vous y a pas mal de neige pour le moment. Chez nous, y en a pas. On parle d'été en hiver et de réchauffement climatique ...
