Symbol of Expo '67, the sphere designed by visionary architect Buckminster Fuller has an important place in the history of contemporary architecture. The largest building of its kind in the world, its structure reproduces more than 75% of a sphere.

Nice lighting here Eric which makes the globe almost glow. The bare trees also work very well with their structure juxtaposed against that of the sphere.
I remember the expo being on and still have a maple leaf badge bought for me at the time, even though I was thousands of miles away in the UK.
Thanks for the posting.

Thanks for showing this building... I have only seen old photographs of it and it was always shown amongst a cahos of competing architectures. Seeing it in this snow covered natural setting makes it completely alian and fabulous... Wonderful..
Technically, the picture is very good too, you managed to get everything exposed properly... Did you use the dri method to achieve this?

Tu me rend malade avec ton procédé HDR.

Nice Work !

You are doing well with your HDR shots and this one is well composed and framed. Nice use of lighting coming from behind the sphere.
p.s. We are meeting in Montreal on June 9, 2007 at 9:00AM in front of the Notre-Dame Basilica. Please join your fellow TE members for a meeting and some fun.

Wow, what a freaky looking orb, very space-like in nature. The clarity of it to see through the structure is also fascinating, and like how the framing and all those lines stand out so strongly here. The trees in front almost appear like limbs, sprouting out from the snow as this "creature" moves forward upon landing.
