aka "Going Fishing..."

I's the b'y that paints the boat
And I's the b'y that sails her
I's the b'y that catches the fish
And takes them home to Lizer.

I met "buddy" on my trip to Newfoundland in 2005.
The small port of Cox's Cove was bustling with activity. The local fishermen were getting their boats ready for another season. Each boat has to have its registration or fishing license clearly marked on the bow.

Can you see what the problem was "buddy" had?

Cox's Cove is at the mouth of the Humber River.
In 1955 and in 1977 it experienced serious flooding.

PS I left the dandelions on to show the start of Spring...

Hello Jay. Very interesting to see how people in other parts of Canada earn their living. I figure the way of life here is also more relaxed. The subject here is well centered and the scenic background is truly inviting. Nice picture Jay.

Love the composition , though, and the capture of a slice-of-life. Superb colours and excellent details in your primary subjects, all set neatly into the context of river and hills

Love all the greens and blues .. wonderful palette .. great timeless every day scene .. now only if you could get him to be painting at dawn or sunset (just kidding).

I see a lot of "activity" in this shot.
First, the colors are wonderfully bright.
Second, "Buddy" seems to have a wee bit of a problem with his number sequence.
Third, and what I appreciated most in this photo, was the "scars" on the boat.....it has
seen a LOT of activity out there on the ocean, and yet is kept in a well-painted condition. All this takes time and patience, and PRIDE in one's boat.

Good POV as well as a well-centered composition.
