Sometimes when the conditions are just right you can actually see the light. This day the mist was just lifting from the forest and the light coming through the trees was making lots of interesting patterns. I would have liked it better if there was a path heading toward the light, but no such luck, the path was going across the scene and not into it. Anyways, it is an interesting effect.

The beams of light give the composition a different effect. If the light source were more evident then it would be obvious, but in this case seeing only the light coming from the sun and being filtered by the trees create almost a Holy effect. Nice picture.

The first impress,on that Ihad when opening this one is that it was shinig like a precious gem. So is your picture, and it is not very common to catch so prettu rays in a forest: They me be there every day, but we are not. Happy Sunday - Izzet

Excellent picture. Not too many modern photographers can produce such play of light. You just did amazing "against light" picture.
The most impressed I am!

A mysterious and breathtaking atmosphe - and - I think - an optimistic one! There's so much beauty in this picture. You managed the really difficult light conditions very well!
Greetings from Germany - and have a nice sunday!

This is magnificent shot of sunlight streaming in throught the trees, evocative of a sunburst effect. The stark contrast of light and the silhouette of the trees is uncommonly dramatic.

Superbe image en contre-jour!
C'est tout simplement super bien fait.
Félicitations pour cette belle image.

Excellent shot. The divergence of the beam of light gives excellent effect. Nice tonality.

Alvin here I thought I would see a few more photos from your holiday down south. I guess your heart is still in BC. Ha!! as if it would ever leave this beautiful province.
Excellent composition capturing the beauty of BC's gorgeous forest floor. I can see the wide angle lens creates a slight inward distortion on the trees because of the upward angle. Could be corrected in photoshop if you deemed it necessary. I am wondering if a ND filter would help here due to the wide range of lighting. Exposure is very critical in settings like this. You did very well in this one Alvin. Good work!

yes, you're right - sometimes even the simplest things turn out to be very interesting... and forests with their tall trees providing numerous lines and letting just a subsential amount of sunlight through their branches, plus mist - almost always a winning combination!
A little break from the Cuban series?

Good rendition of the lightburst effect again, Alvin. The transpiring mood is reminiscent of a fairy-tale or a slightly mysterious movie scene. Very nice how the sunlight bringts forward some vivid greens in the foreground. Nice soothing rhythmic pattern provided by the trees.

Great effect with beams of the sun coming through the trees. Honestly I tryed to make something like this several time, but probably it weren't the perfect light conditions and all attempts were unsuccessful. Very good shot, Bravo!
With BEST Regards,

A marvellous radial pattern of the light streaming throught the trees. Good sharpness, graphism & repetition of the tree trunks. Tfs!

Hi Alvin! This is a very illuminating photo, I must say! With shafts of light like this, I can easily see the motivation to shoot it with a camera. I also appreciate your composition here, with the "sun" in a strong position. Nice work!

Hallo Alwin, Somptueuse ambiance un peu dramatique des ces rayons de soleil qui percent la forêt. Ciao/jr

Well, the conditions were just right but it took skill to capture the diffused rays this well. I especially like the way the rays dapple the foliage in the foreground left. The stump nicely anchors the scene and there is remarkable depth, as one can discern tree trunks far in the background. This is a real keeper.

Excellent shot with such strong sunrays piercing through the forest. You have captured these rays perfect and I love how it lights up parts of the forest giving it some colour. Superb lighting and great details! Excellent work, Alvin!

Although your recent post is as good as any, I had to come to come back to this one - a simple divine moment. Wonderful exposure and light management.

Hi Alvin, I love backlit shots and this one is exceptional. You've positioned the camera perfectly to avoid flare and your composition is well thought out. Nice work.
