Photographer’s Note
We were out with our son today walking up Vancouver's Main Street. I brought my camera hoping to get some street photos, but after a while, our son Iain (16 months) was getting antsy. Off to the park we went. We went to the Mt. Pleasant Community Center and I sat down to rest for a few minutes. Just looking up I noticed the beautiful barren trees that were enveloping us. This shot was obtained lying on the ground. My only regret is that I didn't have an ultra-wide angle for this shot. I'll have to convince my wife :)

Well Don the title reaching out is very applicable to this photo. I also thought of the left and right side aspect of these branches and thought of reaching out together, reaching side by side, between two reaching, the divide above, the list goes on and on.....Nice shot Don.

Quite an effective composition. I like the movement of the branches and the meeting in the middle.

Hi Don-
the apparent symmetry of the shot really makes this a pleasing photograph to look at. I find myself looking at it to reassure myself that it really isn't a mirrored image. Really nice to be shot against overcast, otherwise the contrast would have been lost.
Good job.
Cheers,
Baron

A very graphic shot. I like the “vegetal calligraphy” you get here.

Great shot Don! The inticate pattern of the tree branches is interesting, and the way they seem to be reaching out to each other from the sides and meeting in the middle creates a sense of direction to this. Well done!

Donald your story in the note reminds me how when my son was a small tike I discovered CLOUDS... We would wrestle... and after a while of roughhousing I would play possum - on my backside of course - , while peeking thru my eyelids at the sky!
I love what you saw here! All those arms and fingers reaching out! Great pattern in B&W contrast. Tfs, J.

WOW! It's another nice and artistic composition, Donald! I like the "cold" feeling and the B&W resolution! Well done! TFS! Greetings from Rio! Miguel.

Hello Donald,
Very interesting shot with such details of the two trees meeting each other. Great choice of black and white. The lighting is great and the angle you took it from is great as well. Great shot, Donald!
Greetings,
Ann

Hi Don,
Very effective work - although this is shot in B&W, it could honestly be in "colour," such is the state of the sky and trees at this time of year. I really like the symmetry of the branches spiralling skyward toward one another from left and right. Very fine work, Don, and a clever idea.

I almost critiqued this shot the other day- but then got busy at work just before I could finish it! Hahaha...
This is a great shot Don. So simple in it's composition- yet so effective. Well controlled levels- with nothing overexposed. It almost looks like snow on the branches- but reckon this is the sun shining off them.
Nicely done and great framing (copy-cat) ;-)

Hi Donald ....
Wonderful image .. this is a type of composition that has always struck me .. the trees remind me of arches in a Cathedral .. Satie's Ogives .. great textures .. wonderful composition .. thoughtful image.

The thumbnail is superb, very graphic, and the large version is very nice too.
Your BW is very contrasty, with nice POV providind great geometric appearance.

Hi Donald. Well seen and well captured. Only proves you have to keep your eyes open to all possibilities. Nice PP on the B&W also. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

Hi Donald,
great title, great shot. They look like long spindly fingers about to entwine! Good symettry and the natural 'thinning' leads the eye from the edge to the centre. A great shot and I'll back you on that wide angled lens mate, but you don't need me, just use your charm on her!
