Photographer’s Note
Another photo from our trip up Dog Mtn. When we initially started, they day was very overcast and we thought the highlight would be the hike itself. However, when we arrived at the top, the sky began to clear, and it was incredibly blue.
I wasn't sure if b/w would work better, so I'll post a workshop, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Very limited PS: mild curves and frame.

Well Good Evening Don. What I really like about this photo is how the snow in the woods here has good details shown, from the closest hump to the distant banks near the trees. Because there is such a tremendous contrast between the brightness of show and the tree branches, its nice to capture photos like this where the snow filled trees tie the scene together. Add to that the way that distant bare tree brings a destination to this setting. Excellent shot Don. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Don, This is a gorgeous photo. Your capture is immaculately clear with excellent contrast bringing all the colors into a perfect blend pleasing to the eye. Shadows can sometimes detract from an image, but you found a way to feature them as part of the whole presentation. Excellent work and thanks for sharing. Gerald

HI Donald,
I like this picture very much - with its excellent blue colors. I think the B/W is not better here. The main advantage of the picture is the color/contrast - which doesn't work in BW.
Sorry for advise you at my first visit - but I would crop some snow from the bottom. This manoeuvre may give different balance to your composition.
Anyway - congrats for this excellent winter photo!
Miklós
PS: In Hungary we still haven't have any snow this year:(

Hello Donald
"Winter wonderland", that is how I interprit this photo. They made a forecast for snow the following week so I'm really looking forward to see if it actually comes!
Composition in this photo is great, especially a very good use of the light. I particularly like the dark shadows over the white snow and the massive colour contrast between the dark green pines and the deep blue sky.
Thank you for sharing.

Donald,
I definitely like the color version better; the blues are too nice here to leave out. I like the contrast between sun and shadow. This is a great winter scene.

Hi Don,
Nice capture. I prefer the Original Version, because the blue sky is very beautiful. I like the "cream" texture of the snow. The light and the shadow are very well balanced here.

Don, Congrats on being a father by the way, I have 2 little girls. Anyways, I love the colors and simplicity of this nature shot, but I think composition would be much better if the bottom 20% of the image was cropped, I don't know, just a thought,
Thanks for your comments on my Inukshuk Image, Scott

Hello Donald,
A good winter compo with a fine choice of vertical framing. Excellent exposure having the shadows visible and snow not overexposed. Vivid colors and sharp details.
Cheers,
marilyn

Hi Don, I guess I'm a colour kind of guy. I had a look at the workshop and its nice but I really love that blue, in the sky and the snow looks fresher with it. I wanted to see what it would look like, a little lighter, so I've run a workshop to give you an alternative. While playing with the workshop I noticed your border more. You've included a very subtle but very nice pin stripe from the blue. Nice.
Thanks, John
