Photographer’s Note
Another shot from our foray up Mt. Seymour. I was so focused on the mountains to the Northwest, that I almost missed the great clouds behind me. Alvin was searching for shots on the other side and I managed to catch him walking over the peak.
PP: crop, desaturate and dodged the foreground a bit.

This works so well in black and white.
I like how the foot prints in the snow, the trees and the sky all draw the eye upward towards "what you almost missed".
Very well composed.

From the thumbnail the pic looked outstanding. But I was actually a little disappointed when I opened it. It is still a good pic. The compo with the tiny figure in the big outdoors is very effective. Having the dark trees with in the foreground is a smart way to dwarf the figure further. So. good job on compo. But I think the exposition is a little problematic. There is little detail in the shadows of the trees, the sky is a little burned out and the greyscale of the snow is less-than-rich. Perhaps the polarizer worked against you on this occasion? Nevertheless, this is still a very striking image.
Best,
Mikkel

Hello Donald,
Interesting shot and definitely worth it in black & white. I love the snowshoe steps in the foreground, the tree to the right and Mr. Alvin on the top! The clouds look awesome too. Great work, Donald!
Greetings,
Ann

Well, I'm usually behind the camera, not in front of it, so this is unsual for me. Nice use of the silhoette and the great clouds behind me. I like the black & white too, because the colour would have been pretty washed out anyways looking toward the sun. Nice work! I'm so backed up with shots to post right now that it may be a week or more before I post anything from the trip.

Nice shot Don;
I really am jealous of you guys. Living so close to the mountains- you're able to enjoy this anytime, wish I could say the same.
Glad you guys had a good time. I see you even created a theme for the occassion. I think you should have called it "The Dan Walsh Annual Vancouver TrekEarth Meet"!?!?!?! ;-)
An interesting choice for B&W considerig the bright colors I've seen from the other shots. I'm just glad to see my names not in yellow! :-)
Good work Don, looks like you've really got a following since your return to action. It's good to have you back!
All the best,
- Dan

Hi Donald,
Wow... this is a great shot. In b&w the sky looks wonderful. The silhouettes work nicely here. Well done.

Great use of B&W Donald. You've made a really nice job of the exposure here by maximising the dynamic range. I don't know if you have used anything to reduce the noise, but it looks very good on that front as well.
Composition and POV are top drawer too.
Good luck.

Hi Don!
i like this composition with the lonely man on the mountain..
The sun against your camera produced a good silouettes of the tree and of the man..
Your PP works well to give a particular light to the image..
Also a very cloudy sky is intersting.
Good work.
ciao and have a nive week end!

Hi Don,
This works well in B&W, and even though the lighting could have been better in the foreground, the snowshoe marks enhance anad are clearly defined. The clouds are well textured and alluring, with the large tree providing good balance and Alvin's silhouette warming and enhancing. Well captured, Don. Let's hope for some cold clear winter days ahead...
