Photographer’s Note

At sunset on Christmas Day the Western sky was crisscrossed with contrails.
Are these folks going home, or visitors arriving late?
East-West; North-South... Who can tell?

But seriously, this is no joke for Nova Scotians.
We are literally covered on a daily basis by these
vapor trails. Please take the time to see:

Christmas night is a night of miracles and anything can be seen or heard.
That's the beauty of this holiday.
And I see 'a bright new, shiny star'.
And I can hear the sleigh bells in the snow...
Well, I guess I'm the helpless case..

Thank you firstly for your nice wishes. I really like this photo. Even though there is nothing especially Christmassy in it, it still has a very Christmassy feel to it. The sky you've captured is lovely. Very interesting phenomenon which I have never really taken great note of. Now I'll be looking...

It does appear that there are a LOT of contrails criss-crossing the skies in NS, and one might wonder, during this Christmas season, whether the vapor trails might have been left by Santa himself, travelling to and fro delivering presents in his sleigh!!

All kidding aside, it is interesting to see the various colors that are reflected in the vapors of the contrails, as if they have absorbed their colors from the sun's own palette.
