Photographer’s Note
Normally I just photograph sunrises this time of year as I can't miss them as the sun rises right out our front windows. Last night though the sky was turning this bright orange so I knew I had to go outside and try to get a few shots before it disappeared. Not as easy as it sounds. The wind was blowing 35Knots ( a Gale) right in my face! I didn't dare use a tripod because I was afraid it would just blow right over. SO I held the camera and tried to snap off a few shots while experimenting with different fstops and iso speeds until I was happy with what I was getting.
a few times the wind knocked me off my feet even but I got a few shots I ended up being happy with. This is a crazy time of year for us living on the Great Lakes. Normally we get our really bad weather in November but this year it came late. The water is still warm and the air now is turning cold so we get alot of turbulance in the air the wind hasn't stopped blowing like crazy here since the 1st of December!
Thanks for viewing my gallery and for your comments on my photo..:o)

Hi Donna,
Its really amazing how many different snaps of sunrise and sunset we do really see.So common topic yet everyone sees it very differently. This snap is good enough, little low and dark in light for my liking.Which is most impressive to me is the use of the silhoutte of the trees at both sides and the reddish tone in the sky.But I am not sure that a good sunset pic must include the sun, and I here feel it would have been much better if you could hide the sun behind any of those trees. But thats solely my vision.Nevertheless its a good enough composition.
Greetings from India,
Dhurjati

Hi Donna,
The silhouettes of the trees in this one cross-light that offers you the Sun hiding behind the horizon they form a very interesting image, with a very difficult lighting but that you have solved correctly.
Beautiful image in your photo, made well.

Josep

Sounds like the most courageous sunset image on TE. .. glad you didn't end up with a shot of some giant branch heading right for you ....
You have the trees in great focus .. especially considering ... the point I always seem to find a bugaboo is the transition out of the yellow to the orange .. you have it really naturally here.

Donna
Well worth the effort - great sun and the trees make the capture. I would have cropped of about an inch of the bottom to lower the horizon a little. Otherwise well done.

Hi Donna,
Beautiful natural colors to the sun set and very fine focus despite the wind speed.
Regards, Tom
