Smell the Rose Photo

Photographer’s Note

I shot the photo of the rose on a cool summer evening in July, with the dew still clinging to it. I was using Kodachrome 25 slide film in a Nikon-F, mounted with a 55-mm macro lens. The background was already out of focus and dark, but I increased the contrast and selectively darkened the background with PhotoShop. I remember the rose had an exquisite aroma, about the way it looked. With macro lenses, one could easily zoom in on a droplet and get dramatic reflections, but here the rose looked much too good by itself to apply any tricks.

Great macro shot. I like the water droplets on the petals. The darkened background works well, it really helps emphasize the rose, which looks great.

This is a beautiful macro. This roses with its water drop is really nice. I like also the black background which fits very well with the flower. Good job.

Hi Bulent, This is a nice close up shot ( I love the dew.) I didn't realize people post their close-ups, I have many.
It always amazes me when I see people walk buy a flower like this (or any nice scene for that matter) and they dont stop to observe! Since I have taken up photography about 4 years ago I now always (when possible) stopped to smell the roses and closely observe them of course! Thanks for sharing,
