Photographer’s Note
I have been wondering if I should post this photo I took last weekend close to Wakefield in Quebec--it is just a snapshot, unlike the other shots I have been uploading. Simple and straightforward but, for me, imbued with the awareness of transitoriness. So, today being the first day of autumn, I thought of breaking the rule. Up here the trees have started to turn slowly--and on the day I shot this I was still swimming in the lake that had turned quite chilly--perhaps my last swim this year--so this photo for me has an added valedictory resonance.
(I shall come back to critique a bit later on)

Hi, Sarolta. Very nice autumn colours and reflections. The boat on the right completes the composition which would have seemed a little empty without it. Over here in Belgium we'll have to wait another month or so to get that kind of colours on the trees.

Hi Sarolta...
Lovely fall colors. Somehting I really miss about not being back in Canada! The reflections off the water I find really appealing. The boat- well, that's icing on the cake!
Nicely done Sarolta,

Autumn colours are very well represented in this image, warm colours, with interesting different tones of brown and red.
The reflections in the water create a lovely atmosphere.

"it is just a snapshot"
What does that mean? Couldn't all your photos be considered snapshots? What does it matter anyway, if the picture turns out good, it turns out good, right? Personally, I like this photo (even though it's only a "snapshot"). The colors are intense and the reflection is very pleasant. The boat is great, and of course symbolizes the "moving into autumn." Glad you decided to post it.

Hi Sarolta,
with this colors you got it is one for a jigsaw puzzle. The autumn is sitting before you and you have to move in. A ferryboat is coming to catch you. You only have to wait a bit, then autumn has happened. Really nice one giving me a personal impression.
Thanks and best regards Ulf

Already, we're still having a late summer here. Fantastic colours and fine landscape with good use made of the boat. Nice work, and rather traditional one for you.

Hi Sarolta. I love change, and I am pleasantly surprised by this image of yours, really something different from your other work. And not only that, this picture is gorgeous, even if you consider it a snapshot, with its rich colours, with its so symbolic composition achieved by this boat moving in reflection... Excellent work.
Cheers

Hi Sasa,
be careful, you may get some people angry by calling a landscape a snapshot. I dont think its a snapshot either. If you had a friend posing with a goofy grin in there THAT would be a snapshot. Im actually editing a book for publication now and I have tons of snapshots just like that to go through from others. This isnt a snapshot. Its a wonderfully strong landscape with intense colors. Sure, it is 180degrees different in theme from your others but not in skill.

That's certainly the first time I see you taking a picture of a natural landscape. I must say I am surprised. The picture is pretty goo with those nice reflections but for me who likes urban views and human beings lives, I have to say I'd rather look at your designsoul-like pictures :)

Great rich color, Sasa--it must have been late in the day. The reflections are really nice--almost as rich as the real color. The boat is a nice accent, too. I'm surprised to see so much fall color already in September. But then, I live in California, so what would I know? We have two seasons: the season when it never rains, and the season when it might rain, but it doesn't. (No, I didn't make that up myself.) Regards, Ken.

Hi Sasa,
ok, so there are 99,9999 % of snapshots on TE :)
Ok, far away from your usual post but not a bad one !
This landscape is perfectly composed, the light enhance the beautiful automnal colors.
Good reflection and the boat is in its right place.
Well done

A pleasant landscape dipped into gorgeous seasonal colors, Sasa. The reflections amplify the tranquil mood and the boat with the Canadian flag is a well-placed and delightful add. It just goes to show that someone like you with a graphical and aesthetic eye can (and should) take a photographic stab at any subject matter.
The one thing I'm not comfortable with is your classification of this as a "snapshot", making it sound as landscapes were of lesser value or require less compositional effort than photos with people in them per se. I'm sure you didn't mean it to come across like that and it's no problem at all - I just took a note of it as I have probably flooded TE with more landscapes than anyone else ;o)
I'll respond to your e-mail shortly btw, sorry for the delay.

Hi Sasa
I think complex compos don't always work and could never produce such tranquility and calmness that I'm experiencing in viewing this work. You've picked the right day...the right boat...great colors beautiful sharpness + lighting and well divided frame and good diffused reflection. Very lucky snap :)

Hello,
Je vois que l'automne s'est déjà bien installé chez toi !!! Les couleurs chaudes de ces arbres sont superbes, il est vrai que cette image détonne légérement par rapport à tes précédents post mais elle n'en reste pas moins très belle !

Hi Sarolta,
No it isn't. A snapshot would have the boat and beachline centered. And I reserve a right to like this more than many of your shots.
Great variety of colours here. I just wonder if boat floating out of the frame instead of into it would fit better with the autumn mood.

Hi Sasa,
Perhaps just a snapshot, and of course it's quite different from what you usually post but it definitely has it's place here on TE! The boat is well placed within the frame and the colours are just amazing. I'm surprised to see that the season is much more advanced in Canada than in Europe. Trees are still green here!
Have a nice day.

Sasa,
I was actually surprised to see you name next to this. Very different as you say from your normal posts. But no less interesting. Technically spot on and i love the whole movining into autumn with the boat moving across the frame. A little less subtle than your much loved sepia drenched black and whites.
Cheers

Hi Sasa
Glad you posted this mere "snapshot" whose simplicity is striking and beautiful. The colours are just stunning and awe-inspiring. I'm hoping we get some nice colours soon here in Switzerland, where autumn is evidently a bit later than yours.

Wonderful colors in a very quiet place. The location of the boat in the picture is perfect. It is entering the photo, not exiting.

The second autumnal post I have seen this evening, while basking in the late summer I tend to forget that fall is just a step away.
And just to prove that snapshots also need skill.........a pleasing landscape, drenched in gorgeous colors, the reflections and well-placed boat give a air of tranquility.

Hey Sarolta!
A great post, even if it is a straight forward snap and not a deep-thought and well prepared composition. As long as it convey the message well, it's a great picture!
:)
And this one sure does! The reflections of the colorful trees with the cruising ship are so contrasting, each with it's own unique vivid colors! I wish, though, that the picture would extend to the left, to create a longer voyage space for the ship to cross...
Well done and nice colors from Canada!! Wish Autumn would look like this here in Israel...

hi Sasa, you'd have robbed us of the pleasure of looking at this magnificent display of colours if you hadn't uploaded it. i was looking forward to such golden autumn in Poland, but there's nothing of what i hoped for, and anyway, i can't imagine I'd find anything as picteresque as this view in my neighbourhood. so, thank you for uploading.
have a good weekend

Hi again,
I think that you would agree with me that one cannot get enough of the autumn colours in this region. To me it's a well composed and captured shot not just a snapshot. BTW it seems that me and you upmload most of the photos of this region here on TE.
Thanks again

Oh well,
going to swim against the tide. No Sasa. It's a nice photo. It will remind you of the wonderful times you had. But thats the point. It's personal and your talents are far, far better than this and you know it. I love your work so try not to give into this pleeeeeeease. As you say yourself, it's a snaphot.
I have always got in trouble for saying what I think but I think I am right here. Technically it's right, but that' all.
Sorry Sasa,
best wishes,
Mark
PS Forgive me, for I have sinned. ;)
