Photographer’s Note
Nothing unusual about this image other than an experiment to see if black&white can bring out the mood of strong contrasting brightness of a sunny spring day after some overnight snow.
Pretty soon this country road will be down to the earth with muddy ruts instead of clean snow:-)
I have placed the colour version in workshop for comparative purposes. Was I right in opting for B&W as my preference?
This was taken along the same Maple Corridor which i posted earlier this winter under different climatic conditions.

A beautiful composition, Derek. Excellent b/w work. All those vertical and diagonal lines and the pile of snow. The snow is very well capturd, and i know it is not easy. Well done.

Very nice picture.
I compared both pictures, color and b/w. I think they give a completly different view. The colored one is bright and happy -> the spring is coming, the b/w seems to me sad -> the winter is not finished yet. That doesn't mean that the picture is not good. I even prefere the b/w.

Paysage d'hiver délicat ce sous-bois dans la neige me plait et plus encore en N&B. Ces traces qui ne passe pas par le centre de la vue lui donne une profondeur fantastique. Bravo belle prise. Amicalement/jr

Spring?! Last Sunday, we also had four seasons in one day, the first day of spring. Love this. The shadows on the snow and of the snow in contrast with the tree trunks provide a lot of texture.

Très rafraîchissante cette image pour un matin de printemps. La version n/b est beaucoup plus intéressante. Très belle image.

Amazing B&W shot with an extremly nice point of view. A very beautiful snow texture and shadows on it. Very good picture.

I can "feel" the softness of the snow. This picture in BW does send a "cold" message. I do love it, excellent shot!!

Intersting to see the three variations from the same place, eceryone telling alittle bit different story. The version above is presented very well with a good focus on the light and shadow. Good work Derek.

very cnie. i prefer the bw as it gives greater mood and attention ot play of light and shadow. i have a similar shot in my portfolio with less snow though. the texture of snow has come very well. cheers

hallo Derek, in my opinion the B&W is a much better option. very classical and nice pic of snow, i especially liked the part of snow on the right side. regards Alex
