Photographer's Note

Ok, this one needs a little explanation. It was taken Feb. 2004 after the biggest snowstorm I have ever seen in my life. One hundred centimetres fell within a 24 hour period! The snowplow had visited once before I took this picture (the morning after a night, day, and another night of storming) and that was the last we saw of it for 3 days. Of course, everything in the city came to a standstill; schools were cancelled for a week, no one could really leave their homes for a while, traffic was crazy when the streets started to be plowed because of the narrow roads, etc. etc. The storm became known as "White Juan" because just a few months previous, Halifax experienced its worst hurricane in history (hurricane Juan) which wreaked its own havoc on the city in even a worse way! There's global warming for you.
